  • Can U Swap The Powerdyne BD unit with the new Gear Driven XB-1A??

I've heard yes and i've heard no.....and i tried calling powerdyne, but they dunno what's going on when i mention that i have their unit on my 3.8 .... so i thought i'd ask the question on here..... besides hooking up the oil-line ... can the XB-1A unit just plop right into place under the old setup?

I just read this on th epowerdyne site....
    "Easy to Upgrade!
The new gear-driven XB-1A can fit directly into all the original BD-10 and BD-11 86-93 Mustang kit bracketry with only adding a simple oil line kit."

So why couldn't it just fit into our bracketry as well?

    thanks

You seem to have answer your question. As far as I know it will bolt right into ours because the dimensions are the same.

I wouldn't recommend it though. Eventhough everything is the same the big difference is that it is gear driven and it will slip alot more at full Throttle than a belt driven one. Plus there is alot more parasitic lost at the crank in hp. You'd be better off with the belt driven one. Unless you figure out the slippage problem and build up the bottom end of the engine then in that case yeah. That thing is capable of 18 or more boost. Add an intercooler than you have it made.
