Rebuilding Powerdyne to Hardcore Racing Standard

928 Motorsport came out a another way of building our PD for hardcore racing. Awesome for 1/4 mile runs and great for SCCA/NASA racing, which is what Carl does with his Porches.

PD blower is rated at 900 cfm which translate to 560 hp potential. I believe with this kind of rebuilt, the PD blower can achieve a little over 1000 cfm with I think 650 hp potential.

It's pretty pricey but you can literally use any size pulley you want and the PD will take it according to the site.

It makes me ponder a little bit. I think for the rebuilt you could just buying the SKF 7 ton rated ceramic bearings and Kevlar belt somewhere else. And taking it to them for venting and shimming, we could achieve the same built blower.

Instead of paying a hefty $725 for the whole work.

What do you guys think?

Have you priced out what the bearings and belt would cost somewhere else?
The only thing that makes ne nervous with 928 motor sports is that they say they have no waranty of the racing application.
I don't care how good you say you are everyone can make mistakes and for $725, thats alot of money for no waranty. You think they atleast could waranty there workmanship.

My thinking is exactly too. I don't feel comfortable about no warranty deal.

Just the parts itself would cost about $120 if bought somewhere. The venting and shimming is $119. The rebuilt cost that he does cost about $200. Warranty would be on his labor.

I think would could still achieve the same thing. I'm not sure though if 928 does anything else.

I bought the bearings and belt on ebay for $125.00, and I've been looking into how they put the vents in and it doesn't look to difficult to do it yourself. I'm looking at places to get the 100 micron filters like they use. I think all the Bd-11A's don't use the idler pulley anymore, so you wouldn't need to get it shimmed. I'm going to rebuild mine as soon as I finish landscaping my back yard. I'll let you know how it turns out. By the way after I installed the new kevlar belt on the S/C it had a little more noise coming from it than it had before, but it is slowly going away. I think it is normal for a new belt to be louder when you first install them. Has anyone heard of that before?

That would great. Then you can list the parts and write out an step by step instruction on how you did it.

About the new belt. Yes. It will make that whine sound to it. Then slowly goes away as you drive it more. That's too bad, I kinda like the sound too.

If you notice it required more work to turn the pulley with your hand. But once the belt get broken in, it's back to normal.

i am not sure of the difference in the ceramic bearngs they are talking about in the 'race ready' rebuild vs other ceramic bearing upgrades. (abec 7) because i don't see an rpm rating in the standard bearing upgrade (abec7 ceramic) just ratings by ton.


his new bearings might not be worth it for me. pretty pricey. i will just go with abec7 ceramic when the time comes. if i have extra money laying around i might do the venting and shimming as well.
