My old dog-tired motor was in the 600HP range at its peak. The spare motor coming together in my garage uses a 0.20-over stock block with 3/4" thick CNC-machined girdle and steel main caps, polished low mileage factory crank and resized stock rods with J&Es. With ported heads and intake, TE-45a turbo and big intercooler on the car, I'm hopeful 675 won't be out of reach.
And, Stage motored cars can be driven on the street...last November we drove one from San Diego to Las Vegas on a Friday afternoon in traffic, ran 10-teens and 20s at 137 all day Saturday, and drove home Sunday. The car (which has working A/C, p/w, PDL, stereo) made it from State Line all the way home to San Diego on one tank of gas. It's a hoot!
