How much horsepower will you gain from a powerdyne supercharger cuz I really want one but at the price of 3,500 it should deliver atleast 100 extra horsepower cuz if not I should have bought a z28 for about 9 or 10k. I paid 5,500 for my v6 camaro so if I can't get 100 extra horsepower out of it for 3500 whats the point.
Whoever has this supercharger let me know some of the advantages and disadvantages of it and others stuff I should know from a buyers point of view.
I would expect around a 100hp gain with a 9lb pulley, fuel and exhaust upgrades. Really though, if your only concern is horsepower... why have the V6? Advantages... cheaper on insurance, more unique, boost is fun. Also, search around for used kits for around $2000.

First of all, ask yourself what your intentions are with the car. Few power adders are going to give you 100hp off the bat unless you have other supporting mods (or nitrous). If $3500 is too much money for ya, then save up and trade the car for a V8. Honestly, I wouldn't trust a "used" kit, but that's just me. I'm sure someone's got a decent one to sell somewhere. It's going to be about the same amount of money spent anyway (if you buy the 8) by the time you get the blower, fuel upgrades, exhaust system, etc etc. There are pros and cons to everything. Just depends on what you want to do. NC State named them above. The 3.8 is an awesome motor to mod and will be cheaper to insure. The 8 will is more powerful off the bat (than a stock 6) but more to insure...
As for the Powerdyne, it's a decent kit, but it runs on the smooth side of the belt so there is some slippage. You'll have to do some searches to look into that. There are a few people who have come up with rememdies for that. The kit itself is very reliable. I've had mine on the car for 8 years now. There are 2 pullies right now or you could have a smaller custom pulley made for more boost. BUT... you'll still need other upgrades to the car so don't think you'll just bolt-on a blower and be ready to go. Whenever you do one thing to a car it affects something else that in turn has to be upgraded. Biggest pro is that you'll be capable of beating some decently quick cars.. but if you want to run with the "big boys" you'll need to sink some serious money into the car. If you have more specific questions, there are a few of us on here with Powerdynes that can help.
i run a used kit (but it was nearly brand new) and the car has a great deal more power. the fuel mileage is the same as when the car was brand new.
I drive fast.
the cost of having a sports car based on 6 cylinder gas mileage as compared to the gas mileage of a performance (or any) v8 is a concern for me. My recomemdation is to concider fuel economy as well as insurance rates.
I would never have bought my powerdyne kit if i had to pay full price, though. 4000+ big ones would go along way toward feeding the gas tank in my 383 cuda.
just be prepared for 'more money' whichever way you go.

x2, a used kit is the way to go. I wouldnt have bought mine new, i was leaning towards nitrous...but if you can find a used kit for your model (i believe there is one going around here still) then thats the way to go becuase even with the parts you may need to adapt the kit or for extra things its still not close to the retail price.
