  • Oil boost (suction) pump

So, once again I have a dumb question. Apparently, I'm going to need an oil return suction pump. According to my "turbo" friends, the length of the oil return line is too long to be gravity fed into the pan. By the way....I'm sorta copying the STS design, so the turbo is in the rear. Question is, anyone know of a good brand or company that would sell something like this. I've actually thought of contacting STS to see if I could purchase the suction pump from them, but they'd probably charge me out the a**! I keep finding out that I need more and more everyday to make this thing work. Little by little I'm getting all the stuff together though. I believe all I have left is the piping, steel braided oil lines, fuel pump, and now this oil suction pump. Then I'm finally ready. Sorry I keep hounding you guys with dumb questions.....but I gotta figure it out somehow I guess.

what you are looking for is called a scavenge pump and the one i am getting for my setup is located at http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/mocal1.htm . hope that helps, and that was not a dumb question most people dont need scavenge pumps so they dont bother looking into them.

True T-Punk. Kahouna I would read up on the STS kits on LS1Tech.com and other sites. Some folks have had luck with one brand of oil pumps, some not. Be careful -- post-turbo oil is difficult to deal with.

yes, it is deffinately something you want to do some research on before you start your project. try doing some searches on here for scavange pump, or scavenge pump both spellings will get you some info.

im just curious.. i was looking into doing rear mount but changed to a different way of doning it. what size turbo are you using? I ask becasue it just doesnt seem like the v6 pushes enough exhaust to spin a decently sized compressor

Welcome to the world of turbos and forced induction.. dont worry, before you're all done, and even after that as you sort out bugs, your parts list is only going to get longer.

So.....I'm just wondering, did I do a bad thing by listing all the parts I have? Something I said or rules I don't know about.

Just curious so I don't do it again.

TIAGO: so, what you're saying about the sandwich adapter leaking oil from the seals...........meaning that idea won't work for the turbo oil feed? Well....that sucks!!! I would've thought that with the scavange pump pulling the oil from the turbo back to the pan would allow positive flow to and from the turbo.....I guess I'm wrong... :(

What Im saying is, whats the point? spend 5 bucks on some NPT fittings and setup a real pressure supply to the turbo, forget the adapter.

I don't know hwo the adapter would infringe on the oil filter operation.
