Oh, one more thing that I just noticed. What has the weather been like in Hawai'i lately? I noticed that your best stock was a 16.6 and although I have never raced my car, that is pretty high for a stock car. I was wondering if the track was bad there or if you haven't quite got your drag racing legs yets. But if the line guy is saying that you were spinning way past the 60 ft line, then you are launching too hard. These are just my opinions, I'm not going to drag my car, it has to last 2 more years before it gets its buildup, but you are getting your 6 lbs (it is going to be at max RPMS, so just make sure your car is shifting high enough to see it all the time), next step with your car is to get some good traction, and steeper gears and you'll get your 14's. Work on your drag stills and hell, you might flirt with the 13 second line.

From what Ive seen the track is slow. We had a conversation about that the other night while there. First off the weather is in the 70's. As far as sea level Im not sure. But I do know that ls1's run low 14's there. 350z's run high 14's and covettes run high 13's - low 14's. My friend has a 99 ss and his best ever there is a 13.5. Everyone agrees that the track is a 1/4-half second slower than everywere else they have raced.

It's probably the climate issue there. I live in S. Calif. and the climate here is terrible. The track is not great either. I mean the closest one to me is a desert. LS1 are running low 14's even with all their mods.

So what's the update. Is everything cool now?

It sounds like you should make traction a priority. Get some drag radials on a set of 16" stock rims (slp sells the rims for $50 a piece), and start doing some suspension mods. Start cutting away at that 60' time and you should see some significantly better times. I also agree with some of the others, check that A/F ratio! Take it to a dyno that offers wideband, it's good piece of mind.

The only thing that changed is that I am finally getting 6 psi. I know thats not a big deal but after weeks of tightening the belt it feels good to actually be getting what was advertised. Also looks like 7 psi is very close. I was runinng those times with 3-5 psi. Most of the people running 14 flat or better like Superbird or shirl were getting anywere from 6-9 psi. That right there could be a major reason why. Say I consistently had 4 psi on average down the 1/4 mile, but Superbird had 8 psi on average for his run. Given the general agreement that 1 psi =10 hp he had 40 more hp then me on that run. I do think this played a factor but Im still sure I have a fuel problem. Boost comes strong down low cas 60 pounds fuel pressure is enough at that time, but as I go faster the 58-63 pounds of fuel pressure is not enough to match what the engine and air needs and thats why I have a slugish trap speed of 88mph.

Ok I got the money and want to order a walbro fuel pump today. The problem is that Im readind two different things. While doing a search on this subject I came across some people saying you use the walbro from the 3rd gen camaros while I read others that said we use the same walbro that you would buy for newer model camaros. Now I know that I want a 255 lph walbro to cure my fuel problem. BUT... Do I want the regular 255 walbro or the 255 high boost walbro? I DO plan on doing the ssm package and nos this year If that matters with my question.

                            • I could be wrong but I dont think it increases fuel pressure, but you will have a much higher volume of fuel being pumped. Are you installing this yourself or is your mechanic? How much did he quote you for the install? With this pump you should have no problem getting enough fuel.

                              • He quoted me 150 $$$. Im not sure exactly how it works as well. Im assuming right now that I have a stock pump thatputs out 190 lph. I am upgrading to one that puts out 255 lph.I am upping my liter per hour by 30%. So I was under the impression that the 30% would also carry over to my psi. Example- stock psi= 40-50, with 30% more fuel coming these numbers would be more like-psi=52-65.Now those numbers are close to were I want to be but still not quite there. Thats were the FMU kicks in. With the fmu my fuel psi was jumping from 50-60 psi. But with the extra 30% of fuel it should jump from 65-78 pounds of fuel. Putting me were I want to be. Just a little rich but still good. Now this was all just my uneducated guess so if Im full of sh*t please feel free to chime in and correct me.
