• Injectors or FMU

So I have one last problem. The turbo kit is done. The car is ready to go except that I was told the fuel lines can't be cut and clamped onto the FMU, because they are plastic.

So do you guys think I should buy the 80$ FMU install kit, or sell the FMU and tune it for 42lb injectors?

Anyone have any experence tunning forced induction on these cars with out an FMU?

I would take a crack at tuning it without an FMU.
It shuld not be that difficult.
Install the injectors.. get it to idle well and get your driveability/gas mileage down..

Then all you need to do is tweek the PE table at WOT.. I dont know if anyone here has ever tried it. but it shuld not be that bad.

Tune for the Injectors. There's nothing wrong with FMUs, but it's better to have everything controlled by your computer.

Will lucas/delphi injectors plug into the 99 wiring harness, and will 42lb's be enough?

42lbs will be fine unless you're really looking to push the HP threshold.

Something that I've been thinking about lately....and I'm going to have a lot of time to think since the wifey and I just closed on a house yesterday, so the "turbo project" is more or less put on hold for a little while. But, the FMU has a port for a return line back to the tank. Now if my memory serves me correct, the V-6 doesn't have a return line to the tank...right? So, is this port even necessary? And where is the vaccuum line connect to? I didn't get any instructions with the FMU, so it's a hit or miss for me. I'm also trying to figure out where the fuel feed line taps into. It's just the minor things that I'm not quite getting. I understand pretty well how the whole system should be from what you guys have advised me on. (which I greatly appreciate) You all have been a TREMENDOUS help!! Like I said though, it's not a rush since I won't be making any progress on my project for a little while. I'll be eating ramon noodle for a few weeks ;)
Nitrous is like a hot chick with an STD....you wanna hit it, but you\'re affraid of the consequences...

http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=244935

Tuning with the computer is a good idea. But the computer doesn't know when you are boosting or not, because the map sensor doesn't support it. It does know a higher maf reading, but that is factored in with manifold vacuum. So it may be difficult to nail it.

The v6 does have a return line. The v8 does not.

The vacuum line goes to any vacuum line on the intake. I put mine on the one coming off the tb, the one that goes to the evap solenoid. That's on a '98. The electric tb may not have that line though. What year is yours?

The fuel line... The fmu intercepts the return line. The line coming off the fuel rail goes to the side port on the fmu. The center port on the fmu continues on to the return line going to the tank. The return line is the smaller of the two.

yeah i would try without the FMU first...depending on how much boost you're running...when i was running just the supercharger at 6psi the car's factory fuel system was enough and handled it just fine...i didnt even have the FMU connected until i started using the nitrous with it

Viper is definately correct, I'm not sure if it started in 1999 or 2000. You can get the wiring kit at ZZPerformance, it hooks write up. I hope you have access to HP Tuners or send in your computer. I started the car without the tuning at first to see if they worked and it produced a very thick smoke screen. Good luck with everything though.
