Finally its done, I installed the 42lb injectors. Multiplied the flow rate table by 2, and the car runs really well at low speed.

First time I got on it, the p15** whatever code came up. Fixed that.

Second time I got on it, I saw 10 degres of knock retard, stuttered a lot, and it blew the dipstick. I don't think that should be happening at 5psi of boost. Considering I have the throttle body mod. I don't have a boost gauge, but the wastegate is set to 5psi. What could be causing this?

Anyways, the response is awsome, it spools instantly, and its quieter than my moms grand prix till the wastgate opens then it gets real noisy.

Its 2am, and I'm bound to mess something up, but I'm going to try once more with more fuel, and less timming, and see if that works better.

Well theres no more knock, I richened the mixture, and retarded the timming a little more, but now I have a different problem.

It acts very strange. If you just mash the gas from a stop, there is a seconds hesitation and then it lights up the tires.

If you mash the gas from a roll, the car surges a little bit, and accelerates slowly.

If you slowly roll into the throttle, to about 30-45% it will sputter, and surge for as long as 6 seconds, then suddenly it pulls very hard until you let off. Boost is constant the whole time while its sputtering, and while its pulling. A couple of times while it was sputtering, it also backfired.

The log files showed abosolutly no knock, but the O2's were very strange. When the car was sputtering they would either sit eactly at 63-65 at the very bottom of the scale, or they would be bouncing eraticaly from .400-.700. Then the moment the car started pulling hard the O2's would settle down in the .95-.98 range.

I'm inclined to say that its running lean, but how is it that the car is correcting its self if you give it a few seconds at a constant throttle setting?

I am very confused, and I badly need to wide band the car.

Anyways any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have the drill the TB channel and add the breather mod? Should blow no dipsticks after that.

I have the TB mod but I don't have a breather, so thats probably it.

Last night gave me a great idea for a creditcard add.

          99 camaro 8000$

          turbo kit 2600$

          Hptuners 500$

          43lb injectors 240$

Thinking your richening the mixture, when your actually leaning it out Priceless.

There are some things money can't buy, fortunately a new short block isn't one of them.

The car runs great now, at 5:30 in the morning, I realized I was missing the negative signs in the fuel enrichment table. I knew I would screw something up.

Are you kidding me? You always need a breather or some form of the like, if you stopped the PCV system from functioning...

Drill a hole in the throttle body where the outlet is? I don't get it, isn't that what I blocked?

you could drill holes on teh small vain in the TB after where you blocked it off..

thats one method.. however jsut on principal i am kinda agenst it.. i like keeping unfiltered air far from my motor..

10 degress of KR sounds about right for a stock tune under boost.. w/o any control modual.. so thats cool.. i am assuming you took care fo that..
did you use the hptuners histograms? they are reallllly handy for spark tuning

the breather will help.. i got the ZZP one.. its a perfect fit.. and its easy to install.. it infact will go right on to the end of the oil fill neck.. which is nice come oil change time..

its a little pricy for what it is.. but its the nicest one out there IMHO..

i also found that when i get KR the engine kinda stutters and increases the manifold pressure.. that could be related to your dipstick problems as well..

you may need ot twwek your tune when you add the brether as well.. fo some reason warmups were odd on my car w.o it..

Yeah unfiltered air seems like a bad idea. I'm thinking of running a remote crankcase breather, so that it sucks in cool air. I have noticed that the oil pressure gets a lot lower when the car is hot than it used to.

I did check out the histograms, but I think my knock problem was mainly due to my running lean situation. I've learned a lot about this tunning stuff in the last 24 hours. Mainly that the key to tunning is to make small changes and make them one at a time.

I'm definitly getting a wideband, but not a proffesional tune. At least half the fun is learning to do the stuff your self.
