  • PCV hole in TB blocked-- still leaking oil out the breather?

Why? I blocked the PCV vent hole in the throttle body, and then added a valve cover breather so the crankcase could breath, but now I just find the oil slowly comes out of it under driving?

    Anyone know why?

Interesting? did you make a breather hole on the valve covers or did you use the oil filler cover for the breather?

I bought an Autozone valve cover breather filter and just took off the oil filler cap and it's sitting there.

Excess blow-by?...do you run around with oil sipping out of there or only when in boost? I had a similar problem, although I actually put a breather in both valve covers...the front never leaked but the back was always a problem till I re-did the rears. I got a new valve cover and put a hole in another spot (actually specified under the valve cover...doh, I must have missed that the first time around) Other than that, I am probably of no help, mine still occassionally will have condensed oil, don't like that!!...I know the GTP's and GS have your type of setup but I guess the method of induction is different. My next idea will be to get another set of valve covers, leave 'em stock and then punch a 1" hole in the oil pan and have a hose run from there to a nice catch can with a bigger breather...

Blah I don't know. What would happen if I just put the oil cap back on? I mean the crankcase has to breath doesn't it?

I blocked the tb and put a breather on and came to find out that my valve guides were leaking. After they were replaced I've had zero leaks out of the breather(from checker). Also I put some pcv mesh(white sponge pad looking stuff) up in the breather, through the hole in the breather. Its worked fine for me for about 8 months. Hope this helps.

we didn't have any issues there. Are you sure you plugged up the right hole on the TB? :D

I added a breather to the oil neck, JB'd the hole in the TB, and cut a gigantic open-air hole in the PCV duct.
                    No idea yet, mostly undriven.

Hey man, i will take a picture of how i setup my breather for you. If your breather is sitting directly ontop of the valve cover it may just be getting splashed by the rockers.

I put my filter on the top of the filler neck to avoid that possible problem, so my breather has a 5" extension on it from the valvecover allowing any oil to run back down.

xj I have mine just on the filler neck, just sorta stuck there. I have the 4286, which should be jus tlike yours. Clears the STB, but not by much.
