I see a 98 on there too made by powerdyne. Does this SC perform good? I would be interested in buying it.
I also saw this one here:
http://www.ftforce.com/V6_camaro_supercharger.html
It's $100 cheaper I don't know what the difference is if any.

My summer project is to get a supercharger this summer. I think I have seen this s/c at Tbyrne.com where I was gonna order mine from. It runs for like $3700 there. Is this the best buy right now for a s/c? I don't want to wait one year for the beta tester. There is no way I can hang on to my money for that long with out spending it on other mods :D . Can anyone clue me in here too? I would much rather buy a really easy s/c to install and sacrifice a little bit of power since I will be doing it myself. I think it claimed 110 hp?? Not sure, but does this sound resonable?? I was thinking more along the 85-90 hp range myself. Well as you can see I'm a newby at this s/c stuff but I still want one this summer so any advise or suggestions are really appreciated.Thanx.Red 1999 Firebird M5
Whisper Lid,Borla Catback,K&N,Dual Friction Center Force Clutch,Hurst Shifter w/Lou\'s Short Stick,!FRA,Suncoast Ramair hood,160 Thermo,!maf,Chrome ZO6 Wheels, Painted Calipers, CIA Headers, Taylor Wires, NGK Spark Plugs, 3\" Catco, Jet Chip Stage II, BMR STB, LCA, PHR, SFC, Fan Switch, FTRA
Old Dyno Numbers: 183 RWHP, 217 RWTRQ
http://community.webshots.com/user/redsixer

The powerdyne unit is good for 6lbs of boost (you cant really boost more because the belt will slip because it is rn on that nice smoth part of the belt. You wont see a 100hp incress more like a 50hp or so. If thats all you want and you gots the money go for it.
If you want a really fast car go for nitrous or wait till the ATI kit comes or make your own ATI kit if you dont wanna wait.
going fast on a budget i would look into nitrous it is safe and you can have a 100hp diffrence with the push of the button for no more then a 1/3 of the price of the powerdyne. (if you spent 1k on a nitrous system it would be pretty good you could get most everything you might need for 700)

Then I would go with the powerdyne. From the looks of it and I've heard, it's pretty much a bolt-on.
The only thing I don't like about that supercharger set-up is the lack of potential with it. Over 6lb of boost, you will get belt slippage, and won't be worth a damn.
It all comes down to how you want your car to perform.99\' Black Camaro SS
M6/T-Tops - SLPLid w/K&N | Hurst Billet Plus w/ LSS | EGR Mod
Black 97\' Camaro T-Tops (RIP)

I appreciate some of the feedback so far but I forgot one thing. Is this the same supercharger that Shirl is running 12's on? I know that nitrous is the cheaper way to go but I want to go fast whenever I get on the gas. I don't want to have to push a button and fill a bottle everytime I want to go fast. I hardly go to the track anyway. I think a s/c is also a lot safer than a 100 shot, just my $0.02

lol she is using the powerdyne yes with like 75 shot of nitrous (you will notice that 12sec with a 100 shot messing up some is traping the same as her)
heheh you can always get a bigger bottle so you dont have to refill it all the time.
the powerdyne will only get you to the high 13's
the procharger should be able to get people in the high 12's its up to you

ok, so what im gettin from this feedback is that the 98-up charger at rksport/ftforce (anywhere else have it cheaper?) is "good" if your satisfied with 6lbs of boost at the cost? someone said it was a bolt-on, so does anyone know if i would be ok runnin that with my 75shot? i got a feeling if i wait for the procharger and run 9 to 11lbs of boost im gonna need some more fuel, engine support, gimme some opinions on this guys.

yeah nate, the Red Six member is Rick's brother...I've seen his car around and it's nice. We all need to run b4 the s/c to see what's up. That'll be badass - with the three of us rollin around.

Yes, you are better off getting heads/cam and doing a little work on that engine n/a for LESS MONEY than you are strapping the 6psi powerdyne on there.
1 - You add no more parts, so there is less to break.
2 - It will further optimize your engine allowing for more horsepower from a blower in the future.
3 - Its a lot cooler to beat someone normally aspirated - since you can lie and tell 'em she's stock :D2002 5-spd NBM Camaro
