  • powerdyne 2.91 pulley

Powerdyne has a 2.93 6-rib pulley for about $83.73 and I was wondering if this will work for our cars because our superchargers run off the flat side of the belt and will it give our cars 9 psi because I was told to get a 2.9 or 2.8 pulley. Thanks
Modifications:<br />headers, throtle bod spacer, flowmaster, high flow magnaflow carsound cat, powerdyne sc with 2.9\" pulley and by-pass valve, walboro 255 fuel pump, spec stage 2 clutch, and HP Tuners

you want a smooth pully.. a ribbed one would tear up your belt..

Also, 6 rib is too narrow. Our's is a smooth out 8 rib pulley. You can get a 2.90" from ASP or a powdercoated one from www.928motorsports.com. Talk to Carl and ask him if he could sell you a smooth pulley with custom grooves. He just started making pulleys for PD not too long ago and I think he has a better price.

I've spoken to him in a couple of occassion but I forgot to mention about our unique pulley.

Yes, just last month I did that. I made sure I upgraded my bearings and belt and install the intank pump first.

Big difference in power. Especially at the bottom end rpm. The car fish tail alot when hitting it. Almost drove it through the curb.

The whistling sound is much sharper too. Right now I just have an issue with the PD's vibration. That's why I've been talking to Carl about too.

6 rib will work if you could find a way to extend that pulley a little higher.

get their phone number from website. $125 bucks for grooved (cross cut) whatever size you want almost. 2.8 - 2.9 for 9psi. Should work great. my grooved 6 pounder is awesome performer. John_D and asp grooved pulley equals rockin good time...slippless in seattle.

Do your grooves go parrallel with the face of the pulley or perpendicular. The (rib) grooves go parallel with the face of the pulley. For example look at the crank pulley thats a ribbed pulley.

I think I am confused, the more I have read and thought about it I am not sure I know what these (custom grooves look like. How do they help with the slipage?

I got my pulley from ASP and its 2.75. The grooves go perpendicular, sideways across the pulley. They are V shaped and help bite into the smooth side of the belt so it doesnt slip. Call ASP and they will know what your talking about.

I have pics of the ASP grooved pulley and some general review info as well.

My post right before this one refers to my not understanding why we are talking about 6 rib pulleys at all. I know what they are...that is why I was confused. I just thought we all new about the ASP racing cross cut grooved pulleys.

um, the aspracing 6psi grooved pulley on my car right now with the John_D wrap performs SO FREAKIN GOOD that when people ride in the car for the first time and I punch it from a roll of about 15 to twenty miles an hour everyone so far (about 8 people) have all said (screamed in some cases) the same thing...."****!" The car is shifting into second before they stop yelling.

NO slippage. You want a grooved (horizontal - cross cut) ASPRACING pulley.

I don't even have to get the belt all insane tight. It is tight...but not like the old days if you look back on pre John_D wrap threads and posts. I guess since there is no 'floating tensioner' as with the stock belt rigging you could say the belt is now tighter than stock...but not a big deal...it does not seem tight enough at this time to wear out bearings and bushings in the other accessories.

The cross cut grooves on the ASP racing (5 or 6 I think) might seem a little odd...as in 'how can they help?' until you think about how fast that blower pulley is moving. Those grooves give a little 'dig' between the pulley and the belt. It is sorta like using mud tires vs. slicks.

Actually, I stand corrected. Carl from 928Motorsport does sell spacers for $7.00. So you could buy the pulley and adjust the height with these spacers.

Also, it is not powdercoated, it's hard ionodized. Which is better.
