• 2.75 pulley install

Just got the 2.75 grooved pulley installed and completed the power wrap. Put on a gatorback 103 inch belt. I havent driven it yet but the idle seems a lot smoother with the new belt routing.

The belt seems to be very close to rubbing with the new belt routing. For those of you that have done this belt routing...when you follow the belt from the crank to the ac pulley, there are metal lines that look like they run from the radiator that it seems to rub on? Any one know what I'm talking about?

I take it you have an A4 tranny because those sound like transmission lines that might be rubbing. I have A4 but no rubbing. Um, a couple easy tweaks with a tube bender mignt me all you need or maybe even some cable ties to strap them out of the way a bit. (this might be better idea than bending...try the cable ties first)

Yeah A4 and I thought they were for the tranny. Is yours close to the lines as well? I just want to make sure I routed the belt correctly, straight across from the crank to the ac...

Thats right, the lines are close but mine didn't rub. Did you clearance your oil filter extension enough? My belt runs straight from the crank to AC, barely missing my trimmed oil filter extension. Good luck... the belt wrap rocks.

It's actually that bracket that you connect your oil filter too.

You need to file it down so that the belt doesn't rub.

Take a look at this pic. The shiny part of the metal has been filed down. If you stretch the belt tight across the crank and AC pulleys, you'll see where the belt rubs.

YEP,
If you have not done this yet I bet there is a BUNCH of black powder from the belt rubbing all over the lower passenger front of engine. check th inside edge of belt...is it all ragged looking?

you can mark where it is rubbing with sharpy. loosen belt and start filing. some use dremel, sanding wheel, etc. I just used a rasp to rough it out and then smooth file...to make it smooth.

you don't have to take out a WHOLE bunch of material but you should clearance it non the less.

Yep, it ends up very close to those lines. You need to secure them, by bending and/or zip ties. It would not be pretty if they got snagged by the belt, or got a hole worn through them. Hot pressurized tranny fluid would be spurting everywhere...

Sounds good. I will file that down and zip tie the lines. Thanks for the help. I thought that looked too close
