        You don't need an auto to turn good times in a turbo car. I'd rather wrap my car around a pole than put an auto in it.


        Linxs.. when you're ready, get yourself a stutterbox and some good tires. Your 60' times will come down as you get more used to the car and you get it a bit more prepped for the track. This was your first time out.. people telling you to get an auto are VERY premature.

              </font>[/QUOTE]There are turbo V8 cars in the low 10s with 6 speeds. None of us with turbos have even broken into the 11s yet. The point at which an auto tranny becomes an absolute necessity to maintain ETs, is, i'm sorry to say, not the 12 second mark.

                    I caat say I have ever noticed auto or manual drivers are "better" then the other.. i have seen alot of good drivers that drive autos.. and alot of good people on manuals..

                    on a side note.. I have noticed that the sh*tty of all sh*ttyness of drivers (obviously freqent accident causer type people) are autos.. but they are also not typicaly "sports cars".. they are sedans and minvans and econo boxes.. all dinged and scrated to hell and back..

                    and by sh*tty i meen people who cause accidents..

                    there yah go..

                      it just my experacne that poeple that drive M car have a better idea of whats going on around them on the road they are more alert, i also think most have better reachtion times, do to have to push 2 peddles down.....

                                viper04af is correct. Statistically manual drivers are involved in fewer accidents. This is generally attributed to the fact that they have to concentrate more on driving the car and therefore they have higher situational awareness.
