Mine with 3.08s/open could roast the back right all day. My friend just got a 97, same gearing and he needs water to break it loose.

I have a 97 Auto 3.8 with an open rear, and bone stock, I could chirp 'em on command, and doing brakestands was nothing, the tires would break loose without a second thought.

huh?

I coudl brake stand my 2.8L camaro all the time roasted a 1 month old 225 Yokohama, in about 2 minutes, almost blew it out THats a 3.23 open diffy, and 135 hp, and 160 ft. lbs of torque.

My 3.4L lights them up with ease, but granted its a stick shift... BUt still a drop of th clutch at 2500, rpms and flooring it and the car lights 'em up...

hell my mom's 96 sebring I oculd light up the front wheels in a cloud of smoke just pull the ebrake

For those of you who can't get your wheels to spin you're nto "jerking" the car enough.

you need to hit the gas FIRST, THEN hit the brakes, then give it more gas. it WILL work if you do it right. I've "cured" 3.8's that oculdn't spin the tires before. This method was the only thing that would work for them.

side note, my firebird was loaded to the hilt just like BATMAN's is, so the heavier 3.8s do have trouble spinning the tires

since this is kind of on topic, how easy is it to do a brake stand in an M5?? my friend eases it outta first then as soon as his clutch is out pushes down on the brake right as the car starts to move then its more or less an automatic (hes got a mustang). I've dropped the clutch at around 2000 rpms but the wheels only spin for like 2 quick seconds then they catch (with asr off). is there anything else i can do? how high of rpms can u dump the clutch at without doing damage? Thanks!! p.s. i've done searches for this and couldn't come up with any help.

lol....you have to remember he has aftermarket...prolly WIDER rims and tires than stock, my car stock could do it just fine but then when I put the 18's on that are 10.5in wide, it makes it a little harder especially with the stickier tires...its really kinda nice though, I dont waste money in tires, and it just goes, instead of sitting there roastin em...congrats on being able to spin your tires...I guess  :D ;)

Maybe I have a factory freak, but on regular old city assphualt, I have to avoid stomping on it off the line, or I will spin and get sideways. I don't even have to do a brake stand

I can break the tires loose off the line with no problem. My car is an M5 w/ 3.23. Says it has an open rear end, but I can leave double lines. I think my car was altered somewhat more then the exhaust when I bought it. I have this major issue with traction as is.
To answer another ?, I have dropped the clutch above 4000 rpms without a problem. I am sure thats not safe, but it was fun!
