How would I go about adapting my powerdyne to the whisper lid. Would it be easier just using the K&N fipk system included with the supercharger?
What other custom work must be done to make the powerdyne work with a 98+ fbody? I'm about to start the installation and need some tips. Any info about the installation is appreciated. Thanks.
99 3.8L Pewter Firebird M5, RK Sport Headers, 3 inch Dynomax exhaust, High flow cat, SLP Cold air induction, K&N filter, royal purple synthetic oil, 180* t-stat
No Custom Work, there is already one out there for the 98 + models.
About adapting it to the lid, I'd just stick with the FIPK and sell your Whisper Lid. It would take some bending and adaptors to make it work.

I would not go with the open filter element on the newer design. The blower already puts out enough heat and that will pick up even more. My car runs 10-15 deg warmer with the powerdyne unit.
All you need to do is order some flexable tubing from powerdyne. They sell it off their webpage. www.powerdyne.com If you call them and order it will be full price, the webpage price is discounted. You will also need a piece of black 3" pvc pipe, about 4 inches long. Put that in the whisper lid and clamp/seal it down with some black silicone. That will give you a piece of plastic to clamp the flexable tubing to. (It' doesn't fit around the whisper lid, too big) You need 3 1/2 " size tubing and 2 feet long should be plenty. Here is a pic of mine, since the pic I ditched the chrome pipe that runs underneath and routed the tubing straight to the blower from the whisper lid.
Well after telling you all this I just remembered on the 99+ cars the TB is straight and that might not give you enough room for the flexable tubing. My hood barely shuts and I get clearance from the angled TB. Plus you will need the redesigned piece that goes from the blower to the TB.

How long did it take you to install your sc? Was it a fairly complex job or could any average joe with some car experience be able to do this with home tools? The other question is, where exactly does the SC pump in the compressed air. From the picture shown it takes in air from the whisper lid compresses it and injects it where? Is there something on our engines we have to take off to make it pump in the air I'm confused as to where it actually pushes in the compressed air.
I had the blower installed in 1 day. It's not very hard, basic tools and a extra hand is good when you mount it. It's a heavy SOB. The blower goes between your induction (whisper lid) and the throttle body so it pushes the air into the motor through the throttle body.
From the pic you can't actually see that he has a pipe going to the throttle body. He has a 98' 3.8 with the angled TB, where you have the straight TB on your '99 ( i pretty sure this is right). Maybe if IronMan has a pic of it from the side you would be able to see it.
Thanks a lot guys I see how it works now. 1 other question I have is that we would be able to use the 9lb pulley with that unit safely right? No need to modify the FMU unless we run over 10 is my understanding. The only other thing left to do if you run at 9 is to get a better exhaust with a high flow cat. Correct me if I am wrong here.
For Ironman24:
I saw the videos on your page were you running 14's with the blower on? Or was that just shots of nitrous? Last question. What exhaust is that you have it sounds pretty cool.
You can run the 9lb pulley with out upgrading the FMU, just make sure that fuel pump is installed. A full exhaust is a good idea even with 6lbs.
My mid 14 sec runs were N/A I ran 13.2 @ 108 with a 100 shot and a crapy 2.2 60ft. I haven't gone to the track yet with the blower but I don't see 12's being a problem with the blower and nitrous. I have an old skool exhaust that was discontinued back in 98, it's the Decoma F1 that was made for the 97 F1 Camaros. It's a 3" system.
How much Nitrous will you be using when you go to the track with the blower? 50? 75?
Also what size injectors are you using, and have you tuned with MAFT+?

Ironman24 I can't wait until you goto the track again. Try to make some videos if you can. Also try to run with just the blower and no nitrous to see how you do and then both. If you're running 6lbs and can get in the 13s I bet 9lbs will get you in the 12s then 11s if you use 9lbs and nitrous maybe. Good luck.
I'll start with a 35 shot for testing and work my way up to a 50 and maybe a 75. Well maybe not a 75since I don't have my other motor built yet. lol
Right now I'm running LT1 24lb injectors and I'm leaning out the base 10% with the MAFT because the bottom end is super rich with bigger injectors. My pulse widths are still high so I'm going with bigger injectors.
I plan to run with the blower only and get some times before I spray. I may hit the local 1/8th mile for testing before I goto the 1/4 mile.
