hey tiago do you plan on experimenting with a twin turbo system any time soon? i would think you could decrease the turbo lag and increase performance in this way by using a small quick spooling low psi charger and a large laggy high psi charger. its just a thought. i would do it myself but its a little out of my leage as far as knowledge goes.

No.
What hes describing is a sequential twin setup that uses two different sized turbos. A small one to give boost at low end, and a larger one for top end.
Problems:
1. Packaging- most of the turbos here run the exhaust under the crossmember as it is.
2. You'd have to custom design an entire computer system to run this.
3. It doesn't exist. Even the supras that come w/ a sequential setup factory haven't been able to to use 2 different turbos.

now two same size turbos would be a nice project, although I don't think it would have anything on top of my single setups.

For a street car, i'd say a sequential system is probably the best (ie mkiv toyota supra). Two equally sized turbos (#2 is slightly larger). Full boost by 2grand, and enough air for 400rwhp and 6800rpms. Most don't stick with it, since there is a power gap when bringing #2 online, so it's not best for peak performance.

in the twin setup you're referring to, the first turbo is only used to help spool the second...it provides only minimal, and i mean ,minimal boost. having two turbo's will not be as efficient as a single turbo setup.
i have seen on an import an interesting system though...they used a roots type supercharger for instant response boost, and a larger turbo for high end power...in the end, the turbo was providing like 80% of the boost, but the SC was there in the beginning for that instant power and reduce the lag. I'll try to find the car online, although i read about it in a magazine.1998 Chevrolet Camaro L36 M5
1982 Toyota Celica Supra 7MGTE project car - FOR SALE

\"I find the most sensual part of the woman is the boobies.\" - Zap Brannigan

ur talkin about the compound induction car. they took out the turbo I4 and swaped in a V6, threw on a TRD roots blower, and then threw on a big turbo. this all went into an MR2 I believe. The idea of having the smaller turbo drive the 2nd turbo would be cool, but too complex and more optimal for very high boost pressures above 30 psi.
I've thought of a Twin turbo setup like on the 300Z's, but implemented on our cars. the design would be fun to mess with, but a lot of work would have to be done to get it to work, meaning more than just the piping, I mean messing with the car's sheetmetal, wheelwells, bodywork, ect.2001 Arctic White Firebird
More mods than I\'m allowed to list!

It's an 2000 Acura Integra R
"Jon Kuroyama of HKS borrowed from the company's now defunct twin-charger MR-2 product to inspire the engine development of this Meguiar's Integra project. Using a small, pully-driven, roots-type compressor that's pumping about 4.5 pounds of boost, the blower minimizes lag and improves the engine's low-speed response.
Meanwhile, on the exhaust end, an HKS 2835 turbo is tucked under a stainless steel exhaust manifold, delivering about 16 pounds of intercooled boost to the supercharger. So, we're toying around with about 20 pounds of boost on what's still a stone stock Type R B18C motor with 11:1 static compression. RC Engineering injectors help supply additional fuel, but that's only half the story. The HKS F-Con ignition/fuel computer is the lynch pin that makes it all work without melting the cast slugs."

even a true twin will spool faster than you would expect.
no need to try the complex of a sequential setup on a car, where it is hard enough to find space for a single.

lag is overrated.
drive a well-built turbo car, and you will find that out.
2 of the fastest cars ive driven are an 86 Grand National and a 1990 300zxTT. Although the nattie was faster, it had some lag to it, but wasnt bad. The Z spooled smooth, still had 400hp, but was very smooth.

I finally found the turbo setup I saw a few months ago. This is different than what I originally posted about but it may save some room this is form a 68 camaro though so im not sure)
