  • Injectors and fuel pump...

Hey all. For the time being, can I use my 36lb. injectors with the stock fuel pump to run my 7psi of boost? Or should I put my fuel pump in now? I just really don't have the time before I have to bring this thing to school to show it to my professor for a grade....Just let me know what you guys think.

I have a wideband and I've got hp tuners...c'mon man!! you should know this by now!! haha...so i think i'm gonna give it a go for now. What size silicone reducer fits over the throttle body opening on my 97 3.8 intake? I measured about 3.75 but can't find a 2.5" to 3.75" reducer....erggg

A 3.5 is probably the best bet so it fits nice and tight. Good call. So you know where i can get a 2.5 to 3.5?

what do you think of welding a metal transition from 2.5 to 3.00 right before the intake in the intercooler piping...then do a 3.0 to 3.5 silicone reducer...might make for slightly better flow over the maf?

You could also do that with silicone.

Unless i put some sort of support ring inside the point where the two silicone connectors meet, it would just collapse when you tightened the clamp. I was thinking of that before but it doesn't seem feasible...

ebay has both elbows and reducers and reducing elbows. there are a few main sellers. one of them has real cheapo stuff but one of them has reinforced silicone.

search ebay, turbos/turbo parts...'silicone' or 'reducer' or elbow' . hits will pop right up.

the ones in above provided link by 'south tampa' are supposed to be real good. a little pricey for some of the pieces...they did not have the elbow I needed to I had to go ebay. no problems at 6 psi.

Thats how I originaly set up my intercooler. A 2.5-3in reducer with the 3in side sleved with some 3in exhaust pipe, then clamped a 3.5in radiator hose over that. It worked fine. Probably not the most accurate MAF readings ever though.

As for the original question, I'm still running the stock pump w/43lb injectors, since september.

Uhm, yeah, so I got my 3.5 to 3 reducer today and that thing is nowhere near gonna fit over the throttle body opening. I took the caliper to it today and its measuring 3.75 over the outside edge. The only seller i can find of a 3" to 3.75" is the one i bought these from, but this reducer he sent me was like 2 inches long...it'd be horrible for getting over the tb and the pipe. Anyone have any ideas....phoenix, you mentioned radiator hose??? but you used 3.5???? HELP!!

Yeah it takes a lot of streching and prying with a screwdriver to get it on, but the hose is pretty thin so it streches quite a bit. I'm 99% sure the I/D is 3.5, but I could be wrong.

Is it silicone or rubber? Is there anyway you could heat it? That might expand it out a little bit, as well as make it more flexible. Just a thought.

ok, well either way the d bags sent me the wrong size, only 3.25...not to mention they cut it like 2 inches long...there is no way that'd go on and leave me enough room to get the pipe in the other side...anyone know where i can get a different one...maybe longer. I've been seeing on tiagos kits they use a pretty big one...you know where i could even find that?
