Alright, all the import turbos seem to have them, I'm jealous.
Where do I find a blow-off valve that makes some noise? Mine came with my Procharger kit and it ultra-quiet. I call it rice if you can hear the blow-off valve but not the blower/turbo but in my case the charger is loud enough to wake the dead so a louder blow-off valve would actually sound GOOD.
Also... just food for thought... Where you place the blow off valve has a lot to do with it too. It might be that your not hearing it because its placed to deep in the engine bay.
I will ask Bill about where to place the Blow off valve.
Reason i am saying this is because he asked me if i want to be able to hear the blow off valve... and it all depends on where he puts it.
I heard the blow off valve on Bill's wife's truck and man was it awesome. FAR FROM RICE when you know its the result of a blower being on your car.
I personally love the sound so mine will have it.
THose who don't want the sound or want it to be a sleeper i guess can have their valve placed in a different spot. Like i said.. i will ask Bill and find out for ya.

BOV's are supposed to be fairly quiet, depending on where they are placed in the intake tract. The reason why soem are louder than others is that they are somewhat compromised to make that kind of "farting" sound when you downshift. people like that and don't care too much until you get too much boost in the intake tract when the throttle blades slam shut, and you get a broken turbo/sc from too much air forcing it to spin the opposite way. damage could include cracked fins, blown seals, broken turbine shaft, turbine blades snapped off entirely, stuff like that. yes, any BOV will be louder when placed closer to the engine or compressor, but don't forsake quality for sound.

HKS SSBOV or the Greddy typeR units are the best in my opinion...oh yes and so is the Apexi unit but I don't like it because it looks too ricey...long and looks like a darn stick for an auto...lol!! The HKS and Greddy I am refering to use two stage or a primary and secondary chamber...you will have to read on them here is one in a million links... http://www.alamomotorsports.com/prod...s_ssqvkit.html
Also as mentioned above placement is also a key but the design of the units plays a much more bigger role. This units have air splitters, megaphone apertures and multiple apertures to accenuate their sound. BTW the best place to place them for maximum sound is right after the TB...scare some lil kids!!

THE ORIGINAL 3800SII turbo...NOW SERIES-III
I have a bosch blow off valve, it's the one Powerdyne sells. If you call them on the phone they will correct you can call it a blow-BY valve. The exit hole on this thing is about an inch wide. I can't imagine a high pich turbo blow off noise from it. But I've yet to install it so who knows. I'm thinking more of a whoosh sound.
Sitting in my car with the windows up and stereo on I could still hear Stefan's blower at a stoplight behind me at idle. You think anyone is going to hear a blow off valve? ;)
I say stick youre head out the window with a megaphone and just go PFFFTTTT as you hit the gas to make the front end bounce.
