  • Hole in Y pipe...Oil leaking from hole.....

That about sums it up......In my y pipe there seems to be a small hole.

I had noticed months ago that I had a slight oil leak.....Lately it got REALLY BAD so I decided to investigate.....

I ran the car and saw that drips of oil were coming from my y pipe. I could see them forming so I assume thats were there coming from.

Is oil SUPPOSED to be there?

Also, Ive noticed that Im having a hard time getting anything better than 6-7 pounds of boost when I usualy see 8 pounds after the intercooler.

Could the hole be effecting my boost and overall power??????

    Ant help is greatly appreciated.

ewwww.. how the hell is oil leaking out of your exhaust??

wouldent most of it burn up if it was a small leak??

how much oil is it consuming/dumping??

sorry to hear this.. and i would imagine that it is also relevent to your pressure loss..

Do you have headers? The stock Y-pipe is a double-walled-piece-of-junk, and is known for having the rear main seal / oil pan gasket leak down onto it, causing smoke and an oil smell.

That's kind of odd. Do you see an actual hole there?

There defiently is a lot of smoke.....Really embarrassing.

No I dont have headers...I cant actualysee the hole but I did see an oil drip form and drop form there and smoke comes from that area.

I suppose it's very possible that oil came from the oil pan and fell on the y pipe causing the oil to seem like it's coming from there.

Maybe the oil drop I saw was oil that had accumulated on top of the y pipe. Then formed a drop on the bottom.

Ill check and see if I can actualy find a hole.

Since Im in the forced induction setion with thiese questions instead of where I should be....

How much would a hole in the exhaust effect a blown car?

From what I've heard a hole will drastically affect your boost because the pressure in the pipes is thrown off. I had MASSIVE amounts of smoke once the seal in the turbo let go, it was VERY rediculous/embarassing, ahha.

Tiago, yes, except that his O2's will be seeing an excessively lean condition and richen it up.. correct?

Spray everything with Gunk and wipe it down clean. Then run the car and find out EXACTLY where the oil is coming from. I don't think it's coming from the y pipe. I'll tell you why after you find out where the problem is...

no, the O2s that deal with the tune (the two on the exaust manifolds) should be reading before the y pipe anywhere teh hole is.

I agree with shirl, clean it off and run it for a little bit, then put it up on jacks or a lift. I had the same problem several times from the power steering leaking and running back, rear main leaking and also the oil pan leaking on to the y pipe.

Reason I'm saying that is because I don't think it's coming from the y-pipe. I think it's coming from your oil filter.
