Finally got around to doing this mod. It definitely has more kick on the low end and throughout the rpm range. It feels real strong. But now I'm having the problem with the dipstick blowing out and spraying oil everywhere. It never happened before I did the JD wrap, so I must be getting more boost. I already plugged the PCV hole in the throttle body. So I guess I have to do the breather mod or drill holes in the TB. Is the breather going to fix it? I don't really want to drill. My headers/exhaust are stock up to and including the cat, so is that possibly making it worse? I want to get this thing running right so I can get to the track soon! Thanks guys.

Seems like I remember reading that some of the earlier members had that problem until they replaced the stock cat. The outlet of the cat necks down to 2 1/4", and it makes that tight s-curve too. Supposedly that was the most restrictive part of the exhaust system.\'98 A4 Camaro v6->v8 conversion, and STS kit next
v6: 13.6 Powerdyne, 13.2 150 shot, 13.8 120 shot, 14.3 85 shot, 15.7 stock
v8(na): 12.18@113, 392rwhp
Moderator on www.mtfba.org and www.frrax.com (Road Race & Autocross)
Car pics, TN Region SCCA

anyone have procedures and location of where to do this TB breather mod? I've been tossing around the idea of drilling the valve cover and installing a breather there since I haven't been able to find a "breather cap" that fits the filler neck. If this TB breather mod is better, I'd rather do that.....Nitrous is like a hot chick with an STD....you wanna hit it, but you\'re affraid of the consequences...

http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=244935

The above threaded breathers work real well. The universal breather I tried would pop off even before I put the S/C on.
I have not drilled the TB. I have plugged the TB PCV hole on the back of TB and replaced oil filler neck with threaded breather. (STB does not allow for filler neck and breather...just one or the other...)
If you can keep the filler neck on valve cover and plug the breather onto the filler neck then that is best.
With John_D wrap and a 6 psi grooved ASP racing pulley the engine rockets up to 6 pounds of boost, no slippage...no shooting oil, no shooting dipstick.
Oh yea...as stated above a plugged exhaust (bad cat) can ruin performance of normal engine and especialy cause problems with forced induction. I have no direct experience with forced induction on our smallish stock exhaust diameters but for sure it is a lot of air trying to get pushed through a CAT and then a 2.25" pipe. You will get your moneys worth out of upgradeing to fatter exhaust and improved exhaust can also reduce or eliminate the projectile dipstick problem.
