  • i want 12psi over boost

in these days.. i just took off my powerdyne

    supercharger..

because i was so tired about rebuilting p/d supercharger..

the belt was broke many times..

i use 2.6pully.. i think that small pully caused

    broke my p/d innerbelt..

and i rebuilt p/d by my self..

    also that might be caused..

anyway now im thinking about p/d xb-1a(geardriven)

    and vortec and ati's supercharger...

if i go with just p/d xb-1a, it will be very easy

for me.. i just replace my bd-11a to xb-1a.

that's it~! but if i go with ATI or vortec..

    i have to buy bracket~ kit~ also...

i will spend 2400$ for supercharger head.

i need 12psi over... boost.. might use up to 20psi

how do you think which superchager will be good for me?

i just need supercharger head unit! might needed

    brocket kit also...

now for me powerdyne kit is more familler to me

than others.. but i dont know if the xb-1a

    can make boost sately..

i need 12psi.. boost now but later i will use 20psi..

which way will be good to me?

    thanks..

The powerdyne unit would be much easier so i would go with that. I am pretty sure it can handle 12psi just fine but im not sure about 20. I will check and see.

Eventhough Powerdyne rate XB-1a as 18 psi. It can actually do 25 psi and over, maybe even 30 psi. I've heard of Mustang running more boost on it. Just like I've heard of guys running the BD-11a to 15 psi (2.25 pulley)eventhough it's only been rated at 6-9psi.

I personally have never seen the XB-1a. Though I've offered to evaluate it for our sake, PD just said no to me.

I know for a fact that it will bolt directly to our brackets with only oil lines to add. But I don't know how well it will do. I'm guessing their would be more parasitic lost because it's gear driven and some hp lost because it will produce more heat due to gears and oil. Ofcourse you already have an intercooler so that would help.

There might even be more belt slippage because gears plus oil circulating would take more effort to spin.

The Powerdyne company is about 3 hours drive away from me. One of these day I will pay them a visit and have a closer look at this bad boy.

For now keep your options open. You do have this, but you also have ATI and Turbo to look into as well.

i thought about turbo also.. but.. i decided

to go with supercharger. because of heating

thor for me go with xb-1a is much easier then oters..i think..

as you told if xb-1a can make 20psi over...

        i would go with xb-1a....

        i hope xb-1a make over 20psi safetly...

I would be careful with your engine first. Start with medium boost first like 9psi and then gradually increase it.

Since it has 1200 cfm, it will flow more air per square inch than our current PD. I think a 3.25 pulley would make about 9 psi.

If you do go for XB1a let me know. I am very interested on this.

Say, have you done the JohnD wrap yet?

Also I think some companies will take your bd-11a as trade in for the xb-1a. I know I've seen this with a company on Ebay.

Get a turbo. It's very easy to turn up the boost. You also don't have to worry about a belt ;)

i did john-D wrap. actually.. i set my ECU

with 10psi with low octane setting.

as you know with intercooler... i lost 2-3psi

                boost~ i worried eventhough i use 3.25pully..

                i might see just 6psi..

maybe i have to use 2.9-3.0pully..

but i think it is still worth to me..

                turbo~ i love no worry about a belt~

                but heat is problem.

controle heat is not easy i think. for me

                and on ebay~ 928 Motersports.com trade

                our bd-11a with xb-1a

the xb-1a price is 2600$something..in there

                but superchargersonline.com sale xb-1a with 2100$-2199$

                i love to make 350rwhp!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As i have said before, heat from the turbo is way overrated. As long as you have an IC the air will be plenty cool for your engine. Engine bay heat really isnt changed much either, there are guys in Texas and here in Florida running them just fine and it is much hotter here than where you are (it gets over 100 in the summer). The only reason i would recomend a SC to you over a Turbo is that you already have a SC kit that you can bolt the xb-1a up to and you have much more experience with the SC than a turbo. Good luck, 350hp is deffinately in your grasp.

I would get some bigger injectors. Take a look at this site for some info on which would work best for you http://www.rceng.com/technical.htm
