I thought manuals hit the speed limiter in 4th before we top out on rpm.??
I haven't hit my speed limiter in my car so I am unsure of any of this and at $100 an hour for the nearest dyno (1 hr away) I won't be making any pulls anytime soon..

Manuals will hit rev limiter in 4th about 4k rpm. Mine does anyway.
I am not sure what year it started in, sometime between 1996 and 2000. When the car is moving below 12 or 18mph ( i cant remember which) your rev limiter is 4400 since they dont want you dropping the clutch at full rpm. After that designated speed is passed, your rpm limiter is at 5400; doesn't matter what gear you are/aren't in.

cool, so i am not the only one.
... keep in mind when i am saying its hitting the limiter at 5400 the dyno was done in 2nd and the test was done in 1st.
Its really easy. For those of you who have an auto. put your stick at 1 and then floor it till it hits the limiter and watch where the needle bounces or where you feel the fuel cutt off and let me know.

I've done this several times, unintentionally... Since it gets up there so quickly in 1st gear.
It hits at 6 grand on my a4.
I also bump into the limiter on the 2-3 shift sometimes, if the shifter is down in drive rather than overdrive, and the car has just downshifted to 2 on it's own. Bugs the crap out of me... The thing should go ahead and shift up before hitting the limiter, when the shifter is already up in D.
Maybe some Bill Mach pcm tuning will fix me up after I get my beta... :D
hmmm..... i bet you its cause of my damn gear ratio. I guess i will know for sure once the new calibration for the PCM comes in... which is pretty much what we are waiting for at this point. In the mean time, the bracket is being designed and so is the duct work design. ugggh i hate waiting... but i guess its a small sacrifice to pay to get a fully tested and decent product. The speedlimiter is at 118mph, and thats roughly 5,000RPM with stock gearing in 4th (1:1). You shouldn't be hitting any limiters in 4th - I know I don't - been past 4K in 4th a few times .
