I got my whole rear end with 3.42s disc to disc with shocks and sway bar from Tennessee Auto Parts for $300 plus like 100 dollars to ship it to MI. I will look for their website. You can also find used rears with 3.42s on the v8 forums like ls1tech.com ls1.com and camaroz28.com in their for sale sections. There is always someone parting out a car and the going rate for rears is around $300 right now.

looks like the raised their prices a bit now since they were bought out by a different person. But here is their site. $325-$350 depending on what type you want from them.

But yea look at the v8 forums for someone parting out a car or something too. Could find one cheaper that way

Concerning insurance: Yep, expensive to be young with a fast car. Get a qoute to insure an LS1 V8 1999 camaro. Compare the difference between that and what you pay for the v6.

BTW where are these "$2000" blowers. Personal opinion this motor isn't really a motor of choice to dump mucho money into because regardless you'll just have a 13sec (possible barely squeaking 12sec) car. You won't be trapping in excess of 110mph which is where the real quick cars are going. Just enjoy the fact you have a nice looking car and it has some nice low-end grunt. Putting more than 2,000 in motor work into this is just a wate of $$ personally. Just do a V8 upgrade or select something with better mod ability. /flame suit off/

Jessica, check out Art Hansens 2001 firebird in the for sale section. Get that car.
Problem solved.
It is rigged for nitrous, butyou don't need to use it for that car to be fast. It most likly scoots real good without the bottle.
He is asking a very low price. Somebody in florida is going to get real lucky when they get that car.

Now did I wasted money on my car. I think not, because it's my hobby and passion and I will be keeping my car for life. Can I afford a V8, hell yah. I could buy a Corvette if I want too. I bought and traded 6 other cars after my two birds.
You can tell I'm a Firebird fan. Guess what, you really need to be modified to beat my 98 bird. I have taken on Stang GT, my brother's 350Z, but I lost to my uncle's highly modified ZR1. (Ofcourse I promise my wife and God I won't street race anymore) And yes, my car passes Calif. emission which is a big plus.
This year, my car is going to be even more aggressive.

Twistedbird, why do you post here if you slam our cars? Why not go to a neon site, or a chatroom? I don't see the point in it. That kind of talk just pisses me off. I spent damn hard earned money for my car and I love it. I could have bought a neon, but I did not. I dont go slamming on a neon site. Jessica, get the Powerdyne, get a full exhaust(headers, catback, high flow cat), get it tuned and be HAPPY... in no way, shape or form will a Neon EVER compare to your car.
BTW, don't want to see or hear the word "neon" again (other than someone suggesting it as a commuter car)... please stick to the topic and the question at hand. 2004 CE Corvette 10.86@132mph

I agree with mighty thor my car when it was NA was beatin mustang GT and 3000 GT and alot of other crap on the road it is a love for the car and a hobby to do the work yourself to make it even faster, the GM fbodies are the easiest to work on and to take a whole lot to make them respectably fasthttp://www.cardomain.com/profile/blackfbird_98
