Oh ya, the only mod I have is a v8 factory muffler and 2 tailpipes, and a aftermarket airbox lid.

Yes, I realized it after I posted it. I ordered a ws6 emblem just for fun to put on my car from year one, so I gotta get that supercharger to back it up. Hate to get blown away by a Ford escort. That would suck. Jessica Jessica :)
Kansas: There\'s no place like home...99 Firebird Blown/6lbs, Eaton w/3.42\'s CI headers Z28 Exaust
CAI, #36 injectors Intense PCM

haha..you're gonna need a bit more than a 6 psi powerdyne to back up a ws6 emblem..but you will certainly surprise people ;)12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO
www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com
Best ET: 12.82@103
Best MPH: 104.7
Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC

quote:
Originally posted by Shodown:
1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said.

Don't get that WS6 emblem. That would be sacriligous. Eventhough I have a ram air hood, I put 3 V6 emblem on my car to let everybody know that I have a V6 and not a V8. Ofcourse I surprise the heck out of stock LS1 and LT1 when they know they got beat by a V6. I don't tell them I have a SC.
Anyway back to the topic. I would definately see to it that you get the instruction. Then take it to a specialty shop. And show them the instruction. Ask them if they could do it this way.
There are very few people here that are mechanically incline. In a scale of 1-10, I'm about a 6.

definitely..dont just make an appointment with a shop..have them look at your car and go over the instructions first..and..same with me..although i have an SS hood and spoiler.."3.8L V6" emblems on the sides baby..let those V8s know whats up ;)12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO
www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com
Best ET: 12.82@103
Best MPH: 104.7
Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC

quote:
Originally posted by Shodown:
1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said.

I only can do it Sat. and Sunday. I have to be done to get to work on Monday or by by. I'm not meaning this weekend. Just whenever I do it.
I have to rent a puller too, right? Then hook up all this stuff. If my com, puter freaks out ill die. I don't know anyone who can reprogram it. And the dealership does NOT need to know what I am doing. Thanks again jessica
the above mod and gauge install guides (fuel pressure, for instance), PCV bypass/valve cover breather mod and many other mods and guides are all on my website. Basically my site is intended for intermediate mechanics...but if you take care you should be able to handle many of the things discussed yourself. You will need some tools...mainly metric sockets and wrenches. Don't buy REAL cheap tools, but you also don't have to buy REAL expensive tools. Stay away from 100 piece tool kits that cost 9 bucks.
100 bucks will still go pretty far in starting a tool box. ($20 for metric open end wrench set -small MM to large MM, $20 bucks for metric socket set, 10 bucks for a decent 3/8 drive socket wrench, $20 for some socket extensions and a 3/8 swivel, 5 bucks for a tool box, you get the picture. Buy following our guides for the powerdyne you will see what kind of tools you will need. It is often a lot cheaper to buy a $5 fuel line disconect tool that it is to have a mechanic install a fuel pressure gauge for you.
I am telling you all this mainly because I just feel rather strongly that you need to know what is going on with the powerdyne...how it works, how to maintain it, what goes where, etc... or you could have some MAJOR headaches and mechanic bills down the road.
Oh, just no onions on the pizza please. Everything else is good. ;)

Thank you so much. I guess i'll back off on the emblem. Where did you get the v6 emblems?? Those sound good. I'd like to get them if they look o.k. Why does working on that elbo change the boost PSI? I thought you had to do it to keep from tearing up the belt or something. Hey on the mccandas instructions, why did they have to add a fuel pump? I thought we didn't have to do that. I'm not up for running fuel lines. No way. I think the rest is pretty straight forward that I read thier, cept for the retard unit. The fmu was well explained but not the retard device. I wouldn't know what to set it on anyway. I WILL buy that pizza Thanks Jessica Jessica :)
Kansas: There\'s no place like home...99 Firebird Blown/6lbs, Eaton w/3.42\'s CI headers Z28 Exaust
CAI, #36 injectors Intense PCM

if its the instructions im thinking of..i think they went up to the 8 - 9 psi level..so they added the pump..about the emblems..mine are actually vinyl decals from www.vinzdecals.com ..you can select text, font, size, color, etc..you can also get the 3800 decals from www.thirdcircledesigns.com i think?..or just try a search for 3.8 emblems..i know they're out there12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO
www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com
Best ET: 12.82@103
Best MPH: 104.7
Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC

quote:
Originally posted by Shodown:
1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said.

To answer your question, trimming that oil filter elbow allows you to run the belt in a different pattern around the pullies. The end result is that the belt wraps further around your supercharger pulley and the belt does not slip under higher boost on the pulley. (This is a common problem with the powerdyne since it runs off of the smooth side of our belts). Don't get scared by all the advice we're giving you either, it is still a manageable weekend project so you can get to work on Monday. Just take it slow and try as much ahead of time as you can.
Oh, and that fuel pump... it is useful and more of a safety cushion on the 6PSI standard kit. You don't need to run any new fuel lines, just add either a pump inline with the original lines or replace the pump in the fuel tank with a higher capacity pump. I would still recommend to do either of these just to make sure your engine is seeing enough fuel to mix with the extra air from the supercharger. Good luck!

If I add a pump inline then I have to cut the line and use compression fittings right? I dont know where to put it, or run the wires. Id end up on fire for sure., or the car. Can I get to the tank through the hatch area on a 99? That sounds a little safer. I sure as heck don't want to drop my rear end. Jessica (owes v6.com pizza and beer). Like NCState mentioned, the higher capacity fuel pump is more of a safety cushion when you are running the stock rksport 6 psi pulley. A fuel pump upgrade is not needed, however, as the rksport kit comes with an FMU which will give you plenty of fuel pressure.
A fuel pump upgrade is much more important for people
who change the supercharger pulley to a smaller pulley which in turn spins faster and delivers more air=boost. (6 psi vs. 9 psi pulley for example)
Maybe plan first on:
NGK TR6 spark plugs gapped to .035
Throttle Body PCV bypass w/valve cover breather.
John_D power wrap
Fuel pressure gauge. (you can buy single gauge pillar pod for about $20 or mount the gauge to your dash, etc.)
