  • SAYING GOODBYE

Its been fun......But Im sad to say that my FI days are over.

Im kinda sad but I learned alot.

    Heres the basic breakdown.

2001 Lincoln Navigator-wifes work and kid car-running good

1998 v6 camaro- massive oil leak in 5 different spots ncluding rear main seal (1500 $ to fix)

1997 blazer- overheating problem and recently in a wreck that busted hood and destroyed front windshield (500$ deductable)

1987 535is BMW- just wont turn over...Possible fuel pump (500$ to fix)

As you can see things just kinda got bad for me all of the sudden and I need money badly. I was gonna just try to sell my car AS IS but decided that it's worth being fixed.

So I have decided to let my powerdyne go...This is very hard for me to do. But it must be done.

I had some great times with the kit and went from mid 16's to low 15's.

What really makes me the saddest is that I know that with the 10 pounds of boost I can generate and the recently installed intercooler I could easily blow low 15's away and run a mid 14.

THE CAR IS JUST SO MUCH MORE POWERFUL WITH THE ADDED BOOST AND INTERCOOLER. But Unfortunetly I did everything backwards and never got posi traction or even decent running tires, so Im not sure of what it could really have done with traction.

Guess Ill never know now. Im not even sure why Im posting this.......I guess its kinda like when you have a NA v6 your one of 4000 members. But when your FI your in a tight nit family of like 50 or less.

ILL MISS THIS FAMILY. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP ALONG THE WAY....ESPECIALY MIGHTY THOR.....AND I HOPE I HELPED SOME OF YOU TOO.

Uh man, I hope this is April Fool joke eventhough were in the middle of April. I think you should hang on to it. We all have bad times and good times. Hang in there.

You know last year I got a new engine for my truck and a couple of months ago my tranny went out and that got replaced. Total cost was $3800.

This year my 89 bird's engine went out and that cost me $2800 and plus the tranny is acting up. But I'm going to wait till it's gone.

My 98 bird has 2 oil leaks right now. So far it's nothing major. I'm going to wait on this one too. I also have three mods, including the fuel pump and loop waiting to be installed and I don't know if I will get to it sometime soon. My wallet is bleeding right now and my credit card is running but I'm hanging in there.

All I want to say is take things one at a time. Don't try and tackle everything all at once. I just hate to see you regret it later on when you have put so much hard work into it.

But it really is up to you. I consider you a good friend and a great Powerdyne pioneer. God bless.

Have your thought about a loan? it would really suck for a member like you, who pioneers for the rest of the S/C peops, to have to stop your work. i hope everything works out for you. good luck.

I thought about a loan but I just cant handle any more bills right now.

Im currently in the Army making 4 grand a month...But unfortunetly after 6 years of fireing weopons my ears became very bad and I lost a significant part of my hearing.

I now wear a hearing aid in each ear. Because of my disability the ARMY no longer wants/needs me.They are letting me go.

All I am getting for this disability and loosing my job is a measly 18 grand after taxes.

This may seem like a lot buy thats basicly only 4 and a half months of pay that I would receive from the ARMY.

The problem is that Im a 24 year old with a GED and a significant disibility that keeps me from doing most jobs that I would qualify for.

The chances of me getting another job that pays the 50 grand I make a year right now with my GED is very slim.

Ill probaly be lucky to make 30 grand.

So as you can guess Im trying to save every penny and do everything I can to prepare for the huge drop in pay I will probaly be receiving.

I even go out on weekends and catch chameleons and sell them to pet stores for 5 bucks a peice.

Keep in mind that the 4100$ the army pays me a month is only actualy taxed for 1900.

So even though I only make 4100 a month, I take home 3600 a month. Thats about the equivalent of some one who makes 55000-60000 thousand a year.

So even if by some lucky chance I did land a job that paid me 4 grand a month Id only be taking home 3 grand and still be 600$ short a month.....AND THATS IN THE BEST CASE SENARIO.

Now to make matters even worse my vehicles ae gonna cost me abut 2 grand to fix...Sure I could probaly take it out of the money Ive been saving for when they let me go.... But how much would that help me in the future when I lose my job and end up taking a 50% cut in pay?

Thats right a 50% percent cut in pay!!!!!! I bring home 3600 right now, and in a few months Ill probaly only be making 1800 take home pay.

1800$ take home pay would be about right for a guy with a GED...I hate to say it but Im being realistic.

I love my car but I love my 4 children more....Every time I look at the blower I just see 3 grand that can help me in the future.

The powerdyne wont mean anything to me when I cant pay my bills.

Sorry this was so long, but I just wanted to let every one know why I would be willing to part with my baby.

talk to a lawyer to make sure but im pretty sure that since they injured you for life you intitled to more compensation (possible law suit). and yeah now that i hear the whole thing i think a loan is a bad idea. the whole senario is really a lot different than i thought. talk to a lawyer though, might help.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck you're having.
                            I have a couple questions.
                            1) Is the powerdyne sold yet ?
                            2) Did the boost from the S/C cause the oil leaks ?

NO it's not sold yet.....I think the leaks came from the months of my car running on 5 cylinders.

In one of my much earlier post I explained how my mechanic had only changed 4 of my spark plugs and left the other 2 crappy ones gapped at .060. HE ONLY CHANGED4!!!!!!!To make it even worse he didnt even hook up my wires correctly.

So for months mt pyrometer was reading at 1300-1500 degrees (very hot and DANGEROUS) when it should have been reading 800-1200.

It took me a few months to trace the problem back to the mechanic I trusted, and then I had a buddy redo all the plugs and wires that the mechanic had just done.

He was the one who found the old plugs still in there and wires not even connected.

He fixed it all and the cars been running perfect for about 4 months.

Unfortunetly that excessive heat caused my seals to break down. At first the leak was minor and I thought I could wait.

Now when I drive on the interstate it looks like the batmobile just pushed the smoke screen button.

As far as suing the ARMY goes it's impossible. Soldiers are not allowed to do that.

BUT there is the possibility that I may be getting a check for 900$ for the rest of my like instead of the one lump sum of 18,000$. I would of course prefer the check for 900 a month for the rest of my life but the odds are slim and I wont know which one Army's giving me for another month.

Right now Im just assuming the worse on everything just to be safe.
