• new type of turbo "aerocharger"

Hey guys, dont know if you have seen this yet. Leviathan and i were lookin for turbos for custom kits and he came across this thing right here http://www.utahstangs.com/tech/aerocharger/vatn.htm . It doesnt need a wastegate and comes under boost at around 2000rpm and it has its own oil system that allows vertical mounting. Now the problem we are having is finding info on pricing and reviews on how well they really work. So any help would be appreciated.

Bell talks about those turbos in his book maximum boost. I think he even used a set on an NSX.

Nothing spanking new, but certainly indicative of complicated turbocharger technology that has great results.

Yea, at end of the book(Maximum boost) they go through the installation of one. Well just the fact that it has variable turbine nozzels probobly would make it super expensive comparied to conventinal turbos with or without with price of an external wastegate. That's just my guess though. Also, I know you just fill it up with oil and they say that's fine but I still think flowing oil is nice since it adds a bit of heat transfer away from the turbo. Although you are also running oil that picks up garbage from the engine through the turbo. I guess there are arguments on either side.

im thinkin about it if i can find some prices, i think i will just have to call one of the distributers. it would be nice to not have to run a scavange pump an a twin setup and not have the wastegate take up any more room. The other think im really likin is that they can be mounted at any angle and still work. i deffinately agree that the cooling factor of circulating oil is nice but not as nice as what all i see this turbo offering me if it does everything they say it can.

I think you WOULD have to run a twin setup because it doesn't look like they make aerochargers that are very large. So you'd need two just to support the engine since they don't make one big enough for a single...

Sounds cool, did you guys see thoughs eletric superchargers that are now actual forced induction? Not the bilge blowers on ebay. lol

They are actually advertised in some car magazines now, supposedly giving 50-75 horsepower.

I still think they are a bunch of crock.

The aerocharger? Hmmm, from thoughs sketches on that website it looks like something i could pick up at my local adult toy store. lol
