• 3.4L Turbo Kit details (yes I searched)

Alright, just finished a search on "spool" in this forum since the beginning of time (yes, I know I'm exaggerating) and read all the posts, and found nothing about when the TO4E 60-1 trim turbo is supposed to spool. Anyone have any ideas?

Any 3.4L guys get their kit yet, or have any expectations? Did any 3.4L's get in on the GP? Just trying to get more data on the 3.4L kit. In case you want to do it, I'll do it for you:

When you turbos spools is going to depend on you Intake, heads, cam, turbo headers, A/F, intake pipeing, exhaust housing of the turbo, turbine size and trim and other factors.

I did some looking;
there are 6 T04E's I'm guessing you have the 46 trim.
I looks like if you had a good set up you could be boosting at or around 3000 rpm.
That T04 map is a little more narrow and vertical than what I'm use to when working a 3.4L.
I'm a more boost in the mid 2000's person.

i am pretty sure that the kit from tiago is suppose to hit boost at around 3000rpm.

Alright, that's what I was thinking, but I wasn't quite sure. Thanks for the responses. I'm sure I can live with full boost at 3K, because that's when our cars start falling on their faces. Well, at least when I'm just driving around and don't want my car to sound like it's straining so hard to get up in the revs :D

I'm wondering if there were any somewhat stock 3.4's that got into the purchase though. I'd like to see what their gains are going to be with a production kit. Isn't the turbo that's included a bit more efficient for the L32 than the one Tiago dynoed with? I'm not expecting to see anything near what Tiago put down, but it'd be interesting to see where the properly developed kit will put out cars without that expensive LT-1 hybrid intake on them.

Question for Tiago:
1. Are you planning on releasing the kit with the tubing made for cars with the stock exhaust manifolds? I can see where there'd be a benefit to using the RKSport headers, but they're a bit expensive for the gain we get from them.
2. Do you think we'd lose a lot or make the turbo ineffective if we utilized the stock manifolds?
3. If I were to purchase this kit sometime in the future, would you like before/after install dyno runs on the car since it's mostly stock and has less than 55K miles (aside from the MagnaFlow exhaust) so you can use that info for potential customers?
Maybe something to this effect:
- Stock dyno
- After install using stock exhaust manifolds
- After install using RKSport headers

I'd probably have to install a better clutch to handle the power, but that would be my only other mod. What do you think?

Anyone know if a SPEC Stage 2 clutch will hold around 400RWTQ, or is a Stage 3 necessary? I couldn't find any real info on the rating of the Stage 2 or 3 clutches, and a whole lot of "Don't use SPEC, use CFDF/Don't use CFDF, use SPEC". Anyone have a poweradder on with a stage 2 or 3, or CFDF and get on it from time to time? I don't want to get a clutch that's too aggressive if a stage 2 will work for me, I still like a somewhat civilized ride (my Mrs would like to ride with me from time to time :D ).

a stage three would give you more leeway, but as for brands... i think they are pretty close go with either one.

noone got a 3.4 kit unfortunately yet. But Im revamping some stuff anyway.

I can't make a pipe fit the stock manifolds but you coudl easily modify the pipes to do that at a exaust shop. I can't say how much you will loose but I bet a lot since the stock manifolds suck ***.

I would love some before and after runs for numbers on a stock 3.4.

BTW go with at least a stg 3. Hell I would rather even stage 5

Remember Tiago, muh wife's gotta ride in this thing... ;)

So, gonna let us know what you're revamping for the 3.4L kit?

I'll take your advice on the headers because I don't want any of these substandard and overpriced shops around here to touch my car. I wouldn't trust their quality of work.

So it's going to be a straight T61 turbo, or is there any specific trim or A/R Ratios on that? Wondering what the spool is going to be like on that one... :D Oh, do you recommend going with LT-1 injectors, or is the turbo running fine w/o them and proper tuning? Last thing I need to do is blow these pistons, but good thing I have a Neon as backup, even sexier than 12secondv6's Neon... ;) Just can't afford rebuilding the 3.4 if something happens... id say upgrade the fuel pump first (walbro 255). I know that the 3.8 guys tend to not need bigger injectors so i wouldnt think you would either but if you do the LT1's are a good choice.

the kits will not be a T61, my car is though

Kits will be the same one as the 3.8 kits but with a slightly smaller exaust A/R.
