It was on pump gas haha. I rode in this car on saturday, it was WICKED. Even after he had the motor problems he STILL WALKED a 3500 stall, all free mods, exaust/intake LS1. WICKED with 2 pistons ****ed up.

Also he was running PUMP GAS!!! If he had been running racegas and an Intercooler I can almost garantee he would never have had a problem heh. Hes kinda crazy ;)

Shot peening is shooting steal beads onto a peice of metal (connecting rod) at high velocity. Doing this hardens metal.
But be careful if you get this done, make sure the machinist is very experienced. Or you could end up with weaker parts after machining or a completely ruined part if not done properly.

Parts formed by peen forming exhibit increased resistance to flexural bending fatigue. Another distinct advantage with peen forming, unlike most other forming methods, it that all surface stresses generated are of a compressive nature.

Powder metal parts cannot be altered much if any, thats why I am against the L32 rods as a high strength option. supersix even recommended I keep my stock rods and get them fully machined for strength.

Lets see, maybe you should put down the entire thing that he posted and be clear about what he said: (missing parts in bold

besides that the infamous INDESTRUCTIBLE L36 monster is on its last leg...I just HAD to race an 01 SVT Cobra that was HEAVILY mod'd and I put about 2 cars on him from a 30roll but then i heard a funny noise. This old SOHC GT poostang came up and i went for a normal waxing when i punched it and the motor started CLACK CLACK CLACKing... Pushing horsepower levels over 375 consistently on the street on the L36 motor shows to put considerable wear down...I do believe after more tests though that the motor would be PERFECTLY fine if it was ecquipped with an intercooler.

I am building my race motor right now, but we have discussed sticking in ANOTHER stock L36 before the race motor, that way we can get more baseline runs and an accurate reading on running just an intercooler and turbo....

So what does this tell you? He knows the stock motor is strong, he was testing the limits, no IC, pump gas, and high boost. Apparently he doesent even run a BOV, so you know hes a little crazy. Seems like he dialed it up for the run with the cobra and paid the price. But hes still thinking of going back to a stock block. Puts a bit of a different spin on it when you hear the whole story from the owner of the car.

Its cool that we know whats close to the limits now, i am still scratching my head to why he ran pump gas. i mean the car looked like it had big balls on the dyno, and now it has little balls to none. :(

the good thing is L36 engines are dirt cheap. they are a penny a dozen in the junk yards. I forget how many L36 engines where produced from 96-02 but it was alot.
