  • Big EGT question

What will high EGT's hurt first:
A matalic turbine wheel or SS exhaust valves?
On all the turbo cars over here that have EGT's all the guys that run them put the temp probe after the turbine, Why?
Wouldn't you want to know the temp of the exhaust that is hiting the turbine and exhaust valves and not the temp of the used exhaust?
What I mean is who cares how hot you exhaust pipe is what about the inside of the engine and turbo isn't that whats important.
They claim to know it all about turbos and tuning here but no one so far has ever herd of an exhaust back pressuer gauge or using a second (removable) gauge to put in the piping to pin down pressuer drops like before and afrer the intercooler if say it were cloged or to small.
They all say the same thing about the pressuer gauges, "yea, that kind of a good idea".
No one knows why I would ever want to put a EGT before the turbine, some times I here "theres no where to put it".

the EGT probe is supposed to go 1" from the header flange, thats where EGT's are the most critical in my mind...i dont care how hot it is after the turbo....i'd rather tear up a turbo than a motor anyday..

      Ricer thinking:
I have it, I am cool now, that's all that matters.

i dont know, our engines are cheaper to replace than a whole turbo kit. but thats a lot of work to replace an engine.
