I was searching posts and one thread seemed to suggest that I could skip complicated tuning and buying the 500$ HPtuners programmer to tune my low-boost setup, if I bought a megasquirt? Is this true?
I'd be using either 27 or 36# injectors, and wouldn't run more than around 7#'s of boost.
You want to avoid complicated tuning by skipping HP Tuners and getting a Megasquirt system? I think you may have that a little bass ackwards. Megasquirt is all custom stuff, replacing much of the PCM's functions. Compare that with just editing a couple tables in HP Tuners.
It is pretty complicated. Even though I run it and love it it would still be a better option for most to just go with hp tuners. At least for those that can use it. I still don't like the inability to tune for boost and have the MAP sensor actually see greater than atmospheric pressures. But I guess the MAF could compensate?
