I thought about this the other day. I don't know if this will work or not. Just wanna tell everyone. Do you think the air conditioner could be used like an intercooler. Like run one of the ducts to the intake. Just a thought. What do you guys think.

I feel kinda retarded for saying this , and Im sure someones gonna come say how that would never work, but in the 20 seconds I just thought about it I would say thats a decent idea.Powerdyne 98 a4 convert

stock 16.6 @ 86

6 lbs boost 15.1 @ 90

04 A4 2.73 geared white Corvette Coupe

stock- 13.5 @ 103

LS6 conversion-13.1 @ 107
http://members.cardomain.com/greenglow98 ( pics of intercooled powerdyne)

I've said the same b4, but I don't think it'll cool the air enough to make as big a diffrence as air-air or air-water would. also, u'd have to recharge the ac a lot more often, and it would always draw power from the motor.2001 Arctic White Firebird
More mods than I\'m allowed to list!

First of all, running the A/C does not use up the refrigerant- the only reason you would need more is if you have a leak.
Second, there is no real point to this, since a properly sized intercooler can have intake temps within 15degrees of ambient temps.
Third, your A/C sucks a good 15-20 hp or so, so that would negate any gains.
Finally, it really doesn't cool enough volume. Imagine how much air is going over the radiator at 45mph.

thats what I was going to point out....thats a different system though....I believe that cools a liquid that go directly through the intercooler and with your idea...remember when the car is at WOT the pcm automatically disengages the compressor...bottom line is it wont be as effiecent as the one ford has...and seeing as though they spent millions researching it....I think theres will work better ;) ....just have a water spritzer with some ice chillin in it that sprays on the oustside of the intercooler....for waters heat transfer properties are much better for what your looking at doing rather than cold air. ;)
Just my little insight on this.... ;)

I've thought about this before. The power you would gain from the colder air would be negated by the power taken to run the compressor.2003 Zinc Yellow Mustang GT 1 of 701
ET : TBD
But our shenanigans are cheeky and fun!
