• Supercharging a 3.8

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and have some questions about supercharging my 1999 Camaro.
1-will the stock 3.8 handle the sc without major mods?
2-how much boost can i run safely without blowing the motor? I plane on street driving and occasionally a trip to the drag strip.
3-does anyone know how much boost the factor sc on the Bonneville and Grand Prix puts out?

currently on the car I have a cold air inlet with a K-N Filter I am running stock exhaust manifolds but soon to be changed out with Headers. Also still have the stock cat but have changed the exhaust from cat back to a Flow master 2 3/4 inch system with dual tail pipes

howdy,
good luck with your SC project.

1. yes.
2 6 psi for no major mods. if you up to 9 psi or higher you are in the area where you need to start modding the fuel system/tuning the AF ratio, bigger injectors, upgradeing fuel pump, etc.
At 6 psi you can get by just fine with a 6/1 FMU to help deliver extra fuel while under boost. A 6/1 fmu comes with the rksport-powerdyne kit, for example.

3. I don't have a W body car so i don't care.

check out my web site in my sig. i have a WHOLE section written for installing the powerdyne. it is not a matter of major mods but rather several minor mods that MUST BE done to run the powerdyne.

check it out.

plan on 6 psi to start. get that system up and running. if you want more boost you can upgrade latter...when you feel like doing all the major mods that iinvolve the fuel system upgrades, etc.

6 psi is A LOT more power over stock. trust me.

Did not! I just took a different route.

We need to meet up somewhere and go head to head... once we figure out what the heck is going on with our cars. lol

Hopefully the next test drive will be just as good for my car, I'll try and get you a log from it to compare with yours.

Oh yeah -- and hopefully dyno soon!
