Has anyone ever tried to install a Turbo setup from a Buick GN '85-'87?
Will this system fit on a Series II engine?
The one possible problem that I can see is that if installed in the Firebird the would Turbo sit kind of high, probably hood clearance issues.

Now Playing: \'99 Pewter Firebird, stock, bone stock, and nothing but stock, so help me God!
Comming attractions: K&N Filter, Lid Mod, Intake Bellows Smooth Pipe Mod.
I dream about: Forced Induction (TC or SC) or NOX (or both!)
Would also have some fun getting the intercooler mounted in such a way as to work with the
fan attached to the harmonic balancer.

I've done a setup based on that turbo. Custom passenger forward sweeping header, drivers manifold passes through it, 85 gn t3 intercooled, all exhaust hooked up.
Not exactly what you're looking for but close I don't have numbers yet as it was late in the fall when i got it installed but stay tuned.

Yeah i know... I was just letting the guy know i've done similar to what he's asking about

Thanks, great pics! Looks like lots of mod work required. Are those all parts from a GN, or a bunch of parts from other sources configured like a GN?
The GN's are starting to show up in the bone yards now, at least the ones that have been beaten to death. And I was thinking that I could use all the parts off one of the motors (but not the motor itself)like the exhaust manifolds and crossover, turbo and wastegate(rebuilt of course) Intercooler, harmonic balancer fan, Brackets, etc..
Seems like it would be less $$$ and effort than it would be to try to piece it all together by myself or even to buying a kit from someone (which seems like there isn't one).

Of course, whatever you want to do with your money is a choice...however THERE IS NO REASON TO GO DOWN THIS ROAD at this point in time you will be back peddaling!! It is 2006 the fascination with the venerable LC2 should be left to kit cars etc and vehicles 'endemic' to the aforementioned engine...
THE ONLY ISSUE WITH A SERIES 2/3 is PCM related as far as I am concerned you can go aftermarket...but that is only if you are flirting with HP/TQ in the range of 5XX/6XX and want to keep the drivability...period!!
This path my friend is redundant at best...again it is your money :D
BTW this is not a flame...just a watch yourself alert!!
THE ORIGINAL 3800SII turbo...NOW SERIES-III
One other thing is the exhaust manifolds. I am pretty sure that the exhaust manifold from the GN 3.8 is totally different. The ports are in different places so first thing you would have to do is custom manifolds. moving forward through the system you would need new exhaust piping going into the turbo becuase it wouldn't mount in the same place, this would cause you to have to fabricate new intake side tubing to go through a different intercooler because I'm betting the GN one won't fit without say chopping off the front bumper of our car, then there is new tubing on the other side of the intercooler into the intake which is located in a different place.
now if you wanted to do a full engine swap well that's a different story
