• Looks like the price on kit is going to go up....

Don't worry beta testers, this does not affect you, but please read this anyways. I keep hearing rumors that the price on the kit is going up. Take into consideration that that kit that is offered up at FTFORCE.com and RKSport.com is about 4000.00 for a non intercooled kit.

THe kit coming from ATI made by Bill Mach will be intercooled, will run on the ribbed side of the belt. You won't need to constantly tighten it to get boost. This kit is built for the 3.8 and is not an adaptation. Running 7psi so far and i have no oil bursting into the engine bay and i have been driving it for the last couple days. It comes with a blow off valve that is of higher quality than the kits that are out there today. It comes with an external fuel pump AND an fmu. There is even PCM tuning available. All the metal pipes are powdercoated.

Here is what the new prices are looking like

7psi with no PCM tuning 4496.00
with a pcm tuning later (additional 500.00 later)

10 psi with pcm tuning 4996.00.
(There is no optional for 10psi since it requires pcm tuning for safe driving (we don't want the engine to blow up while you or your friends are in the car).

Now, these are only rumors. Nothing is set in stone, it could be less or more, but i will tell you one thing for sure it IS NOT going to be 4195.00

THE 4195.00 is only for beta testers. Remember the pcm tuning is an additionall 500.00 for testers and public alike.

THERE ARE ONLY 3 SPOTS LEFT if you want the lower price and Bill is only offering this up for another 2-3 weeks. Once he starts collecting money from the beta testers, this price will no longer be valid. Please contact me if you want to become a beta tester and i will send you the info sheet you need to fill out. ON TOP OF THAT, if you are a beta tester, you get an additional 50.00 off. SO the remainder of the payment you need to make after the 300.00 deposit is 3845.00 (this price does not include optional pcm tuning cost of 500.00)

Now as far as the tuning, I've already talked to Bill, and the guy that does tuning for Bill, and the guy who does the tuning will not budge on the price since he has to spend hours on each person's PCM individually because of VIN codes. Although we know what the setting's are, we can't mass produce the PCMs because everyone has their own VIN number. PLus each person has their own mods. Some have ehaust mods, some have different size tires, wheels, gears, thermostats...etc.

PLease don't get mad about the price of the kits. Like i said, its not set in stone. Its Bill's and ATI's choice in the end, not mine.

Personally, looking at the kits that are offered out there right now versus the quality and workmanship of Bill's kit and the options that come with it, i definately think the price is fair. Take into consideration alone that an intercooler from ati is 700.00. THis is a custom intercooler. Remember the kits out there right now don't have the intercooler and don't have the duct work to even adapt one. I am sure you will spend more than $700.00, just adapting one to it. So.... try adding 3800 + 800... thats about 4600 right there and Bill's price is only 300.00 with more boost, reliability and pcm tuning AND it will be intercooled, plus it comes with external fuel pump and FMU. Just add the numbers up.

that's still cheaper than most ls1 kits. of course in general many V6er's don't make as much as V8er's, but that's still a good deal for a well put together kit. if i wouldn't have been laid off i woulda been a beta tester.

Wow, looks like only serious ballers and pimps alike will be the only ones to be lucky enough to have this on their cars. Then again, if I think about all the cash I have dumped into my car $4600 aint ****!!!

Does the PCM tuning negate the HPP3 93 octane tuning?

Comment

• #8
Yes it will probably negate your HPP3. You will probably not want the hypertech settings.

Ryan are these kits going to be sold for only a limited time? Are there only going to be limited numbers made?

I'm asking because I don't want something so custome that 5 years from now if something breaks I can't get parts for it.

Also asking becuase I would like to wait untill next summer to see how the beta testers turn out after 1 full year of driving. If I choose to go the forced induction route I need it to be reliable.

Ooops forgot to ask also:

opt#1 7psi with no PCM tuning 4496.00
with a pcm tuning later (additional 500.00 later)
how much HP gains?

opt#2 10 psi with pcm tuning 4996.00. How much HP gains?

Which ATI head unit is being used? Does it require any maintence? (i.e. re-oiling every 30k?, bearings replaced, etc?)

Thanks,
JAM
02 Firebird GT

What kind of BOV does your kit have?

Like everything. THings are always going up. I remember getting mine brand new for 3200. RKSport and FTForce is going for 3800, that doesn't include shipping and such.

Theoretical best from 7psi = 150% horsepower
Theoretical best from 10psi = 171% horsepower

However, due to parasitic losses and other factors, it will be more like this:

7psi intercooled = ~135% horsepower
10psi intercooled = ~150-160% horsepower

On a stock engine you'd go from 200hp to:
+7psi ~ 270hp
+10psi ~ 300-315hp

So, its a good kit, considering its a % increase. With a proper cam and tuning, you'd be really amazed at what it would be worth

are the 7psi and 10psi both safe on stock internals?

That's a pretty good calculation. But with the intercooler, that might not be accurate.

Yea the powerdynes are hovering right around 4 grand. The ribbed pully set up is worth the differance alone in my opinion. I also agree with Thor on how the power numbers will be affected by the intercooler. But reguardless of loss you'll still be getting what the powerdyne is supposed to get (6 psi) with the 7 lb pully. If you upgrade to the 10 lb pully you should at a minimum be getting a SOLID 8 psi ALL THE TIME. Which would be a dream come true for us powerdyne owners.
