ok so about the same price when you compare ATI kit to ATI kit(vortech is hella expensive). still i'd pay more for fit and finish, but stefan i do agree with you about the poor v6er's. i really don't think bill will sell many kits but i'd buy one when i get a job again. however stefan i give you mad props for putting together a more economical kit that will probably do well against the mach performance kit.
i was swimming in the carribean. animals were hiding behind the rocks except for the little fish, but they told me the squid\'s trying to talk to me. oink, oink. where is my mind?

Hey bill, if its worth anything i totally understand and agree with you. I mean it did take a "long time" but you explained exactly why. You must realize 99% of the board is made up of youngins with no understanding of this nor patience. However, if the kit DOES blow someones car up or ISNT perfect...well you know what, lol. Good luck with the kit guys.

All weekend i was looking at this post and overnight it picks up again.

okay... i know you guys are a lil confused about the PCM tuning.

First of all, before my blower was even on the car, it made a huge difference.

The transmission changes made to the shift points alone made a difference in how my car drives.

Stefan, you have to remember that i don't have the forged internals that you have. I also don't have the cash to spend on a motor (not right away anyways). I didn't feel comfortable with the idea of putting boost on my car without knowing exactly how it was going to affect air fuel ratios and fuel preassure.

I also know that almost everyone here that has put anything more than 9psi of boost on there engines (including you) has had their dipstick blow out and have oil spill out on the engine. I can't afford that to happen and neither can Bill. I can't afford an engine fire and he can't afford lawsuits from his customers. It only makes sense to make sure the pcm is reprogrammed for Forced Induction. Thats why we are requiring the tuning with 10 psi.

The guy who does the programming used to be a programmer for GM and was part of the group that originally worked on the 3.8 so he knows exactly what he is doing. The tuning was done so well that Bill only had to do very little adjustment to the FMU to get the correct air fuel ratio.

Like i said, I started to look into forced induction in the first place because i was enspired by Stefan's story with his procharger. It was true, i was originally going to buy Mcannda's powerdyne kit. After loosing it to another member on the board (who posted first and had first dibs), i decided to go the route Stefan did. With TealV6's help, i got in contact with Stefan and started to ask questions. Stefan drove down here and we set out to make a better version of his kit. Everything would have been fine, except that i started to feel uncomfortable with

1) puttng an LT1 FMU on the bird and just hoping it worked without knowing exactly what it was doing.

2) having to get a modified GTP pulley and not knowing exactly what kind of strain it was putting on the driveshaft or trans and not knowing if it was going to be blanced for my car.

3) how complicated the install was going to be and trying to get parts (extra pulleys and GTP pulley) for others who wanted to replicate it.

Compared to the route i was going to go through, I believe this kit is more solid in every aspect. The install is going to be easier because you are working with the stock balancer and you don't have to tap the oil pan. The kit is made for the 3.8 Fbody and not an adaptation. The FMU is tuned for the fuel delivery of a force enduced 3.8 engine. The intercooler is designed for maximum airflow without blocking the air flow to the radiator. It has a waranty backed up by technical support and it will be endorced by ATI.

Yeah, its more expensive than Stefan's kit, but its the price you are paying for a kit that is endorced by ATI and meets ATI's standards.

Its totally up to you as a consumer to weigh what is important to you and to buy the kit according to your preferance. As a consumer myself i have learned, you get what you pay for. I for one, although this has been a long process am glad i went this route.

A year/ year and a half ago, there was barely anything out there for V6 fbody consumers in the arena of Forced Induction, Today there are many options: The Procharger kit from ATI/Mach Peformance, the Procharger kit from Stefan/Pathogen, Powerdyne/Vector kits, the turbo kit from Tiago..etc.

THe choices are finally out there it is up to you as a consumer to make the choice. I am just glad i got to be part of a process that gives you all another choice
