Finally got it dynoed today. It took Tiago and I 2 hours to get to the dyno so the car was really hot. We didn't have anytime to let it cool down. I picked a really crappy day to dyno. On the news it said today was the hottest day of the year. Right now it's 99 outside with the humidity at 26%. In the shop it was right around 110 so no cold air for the car to pick up.

We were having probs with the connector on the tb coming off. Turns out it had a small rip in it so I was only making 7-8psi.

Now for the numbers. In 3rd gear I was making 282.5 hp and 311.1 tq. Right after this we ran it in 4th so the car was really hot. We had to run it twice since the first time the connector popped off. Once we got a clean run in 4th it pulled 278.1 hp and 320.9 tq. Didn't get to take it to redline because of the speed limiter.

They are having a midnight dyno day here in a few weeks. I'm going to take it back with some silicone connectors and let the thing cool off for a few hours first. The car was at 210 when we dynoed it.

I'm really hoping that when we get all the boost leaks taken car of and the car is running cool at around 10psi we can hit well into the 300hp range.

      Wow very sweet numbers still

Wasn't Tiago only hitting 7psi and pushing 260rhwp or so when he ran the 13.5 with a lot of engine knock? You will probably be very close to 12's now well driven as it is. With the leaks fixed and a cooler car I think 12's should be easy for you.

      Good luck.

hrmmm those numbers are low, im sure the heat hurt but man you barly dynoed more then tiago with a little bit more boost we cant be havin 3.4's faster then us

not to bad of numbers im sure with the car cooled down with 10 psi you could see maybe 315 hp probly 350+ tq

I would hit a heck of a lot more than 315hp and 350tq at 10psi with a cold engine and cold air. I had just been on the highway for 2 hours and car was sooo hot. I couldn't even touch the ic pipe it was so hot.

Wow that's really good considering how hot the car was running and the weather conditions. I think you can put down 350 RWHP easily. I can't wait to see some track times!

We are going to fine tune my car a little more and then take it to the track. Then we are going to strip down my car and have a shop remake everything. Then we are going to put everything that is going to be on the kit on my car and make sure it all runs right. Hopefully not to much longer

Excellent Radcat and Tiago keep up the good stuff and keep on plugging. Radcat are you running an IC? Tiago is there a website for the outfit that made our heads and do they do them for 3.8s. Also Radcat are you moving to Houston when Tiago comes down to the promised land.

I've noticed just about everyone seems to preface (as an excuse) to their dyno results with, "I had bad air"..."Weather was horrible"

Blah blah blah. What you ran is what you ran.

If you are that worried about it, simply figure the SAE correction factor for sea level at 70 degrees and XX humidity. There are correction calculators all over the internet.

I did it for you, and you were at 93% effeciency if you were at 1000 feet.

That calculates to 299 horsepower. Whether you run your worst dyno ever makes no difference. If you correct it, it always comes out the same. So quit whining 299 is nothing to cry about!

Why would you run the car in third gear??? Correct me if I am wrong but in all my experiance I was told and came to the point that the car should be run in the 1:1 gear? If you run it in third gear, all you're doing is giving yourself a false number that looks impressive but isn't available to you at anything past a 1.43 gear.

I'm sure I could run mine in first gear with my final gearing I'd measure some 225+ at the rear wheels completely stock. Does that mean I actually have that much power? No. More like 170.

Still good numbers! These things take time. And the weather always is against you. Kick A$$ regardless. I cant wait the get one of these.

Not too shabby for a baseline run with the turbo. Sure there are little things to work out, blah blah blah. Although correction factors are a good way to get rid of variables, stating the conditions of the test are still valid. I doubt generic correction factors will account for how much a TURBO will enjoy cold dense air. Either way, at 7-8 psi that output sounds pretty good to me, whats that 50-55% increase?. I thought that you had already changed over all the fittings to silicone to avoid any more loss of boost. Anyways, them turbos do go woooo-woooooo........

the only fitting we hadn't swapped over to silicone was the one on the throttle body and it sure enough got owned.

I though the results were really good considering the conditions. You may talk of correction factors, but that doesn't take into account the fact that the engine was HOT...and that makes a world of difference on the power output. Conditions today were so bad that my car was running at 210 on the hwy :( I have never had it go past 180, even in teh hot Houston summer, sucks.

280 rwhp and 320 rwtq was a good result IMO.

The reason we ran in third was to get an overview of the power curve, we can't rev all the way through in 4th because of the speed limiter. In past tests I have seen as much as 30 rwhp differece in dyno numbers when dynoing in 3rd to 4th comparing. So that 4th gear pull might have pulled out as much as 310 rwhp if we could have revved.

We had the wide band o2s setup on the car and it was running lean as hell alot of the time, we need to put the injectors in ASAP.

The 3.4 guy is the one that built it, I really didn't expect it to make any more if any then me because of my mildly worked upper end of the engine leveled the playing fields.

in fact if you compare my dyno and his, at the point where mine shut down where I made 260 rwhp and 332 rwtq, his was only making ~220 rwhp and 280rwtq. I feel this is mostly due to just the boost leak so it was lagging getting up to full boost, and if you could see the crazy **** the A/F ratio was doing, you would understand how badly we need to keep tuning this thing. Tuning is key.
