There is nothing wrong with ether single or twin if your making your own kit maybe twins would be easier so configure that is there major advantage over singles some times its easier to rout the pluming with twins sometimes its easier with a single. I wouldn’t recommend trying to use two different sizes for faster spool its very complicated, you need cut of valves where only one turbo will spool at a time. These motors can’t handle the amount of boost that a Sequential twin turbo are good for. And if you can build your motor to handle the amount of boost and if you have the know how to make a turbo kit like that you wouldn’t be asking this question. But yes twins are very possible to put in our cars no one to date has done so that I know of. A set of t25 with internal wastgates would be a very good combination. Correct me if im wrong with the name but I think “ICON?” made a twin kit for the z28 that the turbos went on the end of the exhaust manifolds down on the side of the block next to the bell housing that could be very easy to fit in there only draw back is you will need a sump….P.S. you don’t need inter coolers they do help but so does good tonight and water injection. I have a friend with a non intercooler turbo bussa making over 600hp its all in the tonight plus if he intercooled his bike he would have to race in a another class93 v6 camaro

You can do precisely the same thing with a properly sized twin setup as you can with a properly sized single setup. The plumping isn't really much more complicated, your crossover pipe just ends up being after the turbos rather than before the turbo.
Two proportinately sized turbos that each run off one bank(1.9L of displacement)will produce the same power and arguably similar spool characteristics as a single turbo pushing an equivalent air mass off of both banks and 3.8L.
Generally, the biggest constraint with twins is space. They do take up a little more space than a single does, but there is more than enough room under the hood of our cars. Heck, they fit them on LS1's, so we have a 2 cylinder void of space on top of that. Personally, I feel twins would be easier to configure on a V-shaped engine.
I've already planned out a full setup using twins, but fell short on the funding end (college tuition does that). I know a few others have worked up pretty well thought out ideas as well. Do a few searches and you'll find a lot of info.AIM: Alientr8tr
1998 Camaro 3.8L
Flowmaster 80-series, !FRA, Eibach Springs, KYB AGX, SLP sway bars, 3.42/LSD, Wings West kit, Z06 Motorsports, Silverstone Metallic paint
Shift 5 - My Band

twins allow for better packaging closer to the manifolds than a single, and also have lower rotating mass making for slightly quicker spool but not much. Also twins feel more "natural" in the way they come on, in other words there isnt as big of a jolt feeling when they come online like there is with a single. honestly there isnt much advantage to twins, its more the design characteristics of the system they allow for that i prefer over a single.
The reason nobody has a sequetial turbo setup is that it is rediculously hard to design correctly and the are in no way worth the effort for a drag or auto-x car. if you want to look into this further check out the tractor pull guys, some have quad-sequential turbos.
The piping for the lt1 kit would not mate up to your exhaust or your intake so buying an lt1 kit an modifying it to fit would be almost as much of a pain as starting from scratch and would be more expensive.
BTW WTF! happenned to the knowledgable turbo guys around here? sweet..twin turbo was actually the first performance idea i had for my car..and i was told it would most likely be 600+ HP..but i was quoted 10 grand for all the custom engine and turbo work..and at the time i really wanted some dough left over for "show" too..now i wish i went for it..yeah post whatever you got12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO
www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com
Best ET: 12.82@103
Best MPH: 104.7
Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC

quote:
Originally posted by Shodown:
1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said.

$6200 in the motor alone
$13000 in the Twin Turbo setup with the BigStuff3 Computer to tune it.
It's a lot of money, but it's what I've wanted to do to the car since I bought it brand new in 2000, so i'm happy
I will post pics and the numbers when the car is done.....right now they are saying mid april if everything goes right for it to be done. ***crossing fingers everything goes right***
