$3300?
Actually, the LT1 kit is $3000 sold straight from TByrne. You buy the instruction manual and a few custom parts from us for $300 or so. Give us your car for a week and we'll install it for... I dunno... $200 maybe? It's normally a weekend's job but we kept running out of parts at inopportune times (i.e. after the parts stores closed).
Cheap? Yes. Fast? You betcha!
Remember, we have dozens of Powerdyne members who run 7-11 psi all the time NON-INTERCOOLED and they haven't had problems with blown head gaskets or the other horror stories that you typically hear. Intercooled you can up that by several points without any added risk. On an intercooled setup do you need injectors, PCM tuning, timing retard, or anything like that to run 12 psi? Nope. Just the FMU and the inline fuel pump that comes with the kit. Fill up with 93 octane pump gas and make sure you get headers and a 3" free-flowing exhaust so you won't shoot your dipstick like many of our supercharged members have in the past.

would a valve breather help that out?
even tho im not worried.. got plenty of free flow in my exhaust..
i refuse to get a turbokit now because of the headers i just got powdercoated.. they loook NIIIIICE!!
Disregard the question above.. ijust read in another thread about the valve breather.
also, if you can. could you shoot me an email answering this question?
You had an engine rebuild? if so, what did you do to it? whats your new compression ratio, and how much did it all cost? did you do it all yourself, or did a shop do it?

$3000 for the LT1 kit from TByrne, plus whatever we end up charging for parts and labor. I'll let Jenn reply to this one, that's her department. It's actually her kit entirely, not mine, I just supplied the blueprints.

Stefan so your kit is the LT1 kit with some adaptations to fit our cars?
You said the LT1 kit on T-bryne, but there are 3 different chargers on there?
Which one is it? What is the part #?
If this is the Powerdyne, what is the main difference between this adjusted LT1 kit and the RK Sport / FT Force kit?
3k intercooled and supercharged?

I'm still trying to figure out the dipstick issue. Since my cheesy RK headers decided to break at the weld on the y-pipe I had the exhaust shop open up the collector more and put a new pipe in. While it was there I had a 3" Borla adjustable catback put on in place of the 3" Decoma I used to have. (haven't had a cat in years, just a 3" offroad pipe)
Anyways, I'm still having problems with the dipstick popping out. I just put a thicker o-ring on the handle and I hope that holds it in there.
Stefan, did you do the mod with the tap and block off plug in the TB?
Last few times I have unbolted the plate over the PCV valve I have gotten fizzing like opening a softdrink. I've replaced the valve several times and it still does this. It's holding pressure in there somewhere. with your, or jenn's kit, dont you have to have the housing reversed? also, don't the users of this have to purchase low profile fans? What about the FMU, since it's for an LT1 will it even work on the 3.8L the way it supposed to?

You will have to do the 'tap and block off plug' in the TB...Then either have some valve cover breathers or get a breather made from the oil pan...
Stefan,
Are you saying you aren't planning on running any form of timing retard, especially on 12psi? or better yet they are guys running boost without timing retard? Perchance any of 'em scanned their motors during boost?

Wow man, thats pretty cool you got those parts that cheap. I remember when i was starting to do this project back when i was trying to do a 2.0 version of your kit. I remember the cost starting to add up. The GTP harmonic balancer i had to buy to replace the stock one was about http://www.gmpartsdirect.com (pn#12563268)85.00+ shipping, then i had to call a machine shop/pulley shop to make it into an 8 rib pulley instead of a 6 rib that cost me another 100.00 THen i called a pulley shop to make the pulleys that were on your bracket custom 8 rib. That cost me another 50.00 each (had to make your idler and tentioner pulleys that are on your bracket). right there alone i was up to 300-350 including shipping charges. Not to mention you have to pay about 200.00+tax for those slimline fans. That doesn't include the bracket cost which was only 75.00 cause a friend I knew was doing it, but i am sure most places will realistically charge around 100-150 for a bracket. So now... with the parts beyond the SC kit, I was already looking at 625.00 in extra parts.
Hey on Jen's car, did you have to relocate the Oil Preasure gauge's sending unit? I know on my bird when TealV6, MIke and I were looking at things, we were going to have to do that because the belt was going to rub against it. I am sure that will add to the cost if you have to do it.
Oh and can you order the LT1 kit with the reverse rotation? Is that covered under waranty? I thought that ATI voids the waranty if they find out your using the kit in a manner in which it was not meant to be used.
I think i remember reading that it costs more to get the revers rotation on the head unit... something like 250.00 extra? I know that when i bought my LT1 kit used, it didn't have the reverse rotation and it was going to cost me around that much + shipping. So that brought my total up to 900.00 in extra parts beyond the cost of the kit. Now this was without adding the cost of any of the manderal bent pipes for any of the duct work or the cost of the rubber hoses.
I got my LT1 Kit used lucky for 1600.00 but if I had got my kit new and went by your kit design, it would have cost me 3000.00 + 900.00 in essential parts, plus the cost of bent pipes and hosing for duct work + the cost of relocating my oil preasure gauge. BTW, i think its more for the kit if you upgrade to the 3 core intercooler like the one you have. That might drive the cost up as well or are you designing it with a 3 core setup like yours...or r u redsigning it with the 2 core. Anyways with the cost so much higher up there, thats the reason i went the other route to begin with. I figure if its going to cost everyone that much to adapt an LT1 kit, might as well get one built for the 3.8 and get the backing from ATI. SO... How did you get your cost down to 300? from 1000+? If you are, THAT IS AMAZING and Props to you man.
