    suggestion:
try putting the specs of you car, mods and engine in your sig. This way people can see right away what is involved in your ride and considerations from then on.

Super chargers for a 3.4 are kinda rare i believe.

you only 'need' a stall converter 'if you want' a stall converter.

I don't go to the track much if ever so i have no desire for a stall converter, but...you can try ls1tech.com for some real good info on stall converters. there is not only the rpm of the the stall but the torque multipler as well.

If you go too high with either of those...things start to break and the car is also not much good for the street.

I think after reading quite a bit...3000 (or 2800) rpm with 2.1 or 2.2 multiplier is still good for street use and also does not start breaking things...U joints, rear end, tranny mount, etc.

You 'dont have to' match your engines best torque curve to atall converter...it is a good idea for bracket times....but not needed to 'feel a difference'. If you bump up the rpm of the stall vs. you stock rpm converter you are still getting a better launch...even though the rpm might not be optimized...it is still better than stock.

most aftermarket stall converters will 'spin free' while cruising and while under light throttle. expect cruising rpms to go up a bit. this is where most of the gas mileage decrease goes.

(edit) well...sometimes cars are modded so radical that they do need a higher stall (higher than stock) torque converter to remain streetable.
