oil cooler before turbo

Hey has anyone thought about running an oil cooler before the turbo. What do you think, would it make the oil to viscous?

Save your money or put it somewhere else within the project. Run synthetic oil and keep up on maintainance...

it runs off the engine oil supply. unless u let the oil coke up inside the housing after a hard run, the oil won't lose much. just make sure u adhere to 2800-3000 mile oil changes w/ some decent synthetic. u could get an oil cooler, but it isn't really required, unless u wanna go a long time between oil changes.

make sure you ALWAYS run the motor for at least a minute before you shut it off too. this will help the oil cool the turbo.

Thanks as always for the input. I plan on using all your suggestions along with an auto turbo timer. Already have the cooler so I thought I would use it. Have a good night guys.

Running synthetic will definatly help w/ coking. I run an oil cooler to cool the engine oil cuz I pretty much have to. When I 1st put the turbo on my oil temp gage was showing that the oil temps were getting up to like 260 when stuck in traffic. I have a 6 pass permacool oil cooler w/ a fan. It picks the oil supply off at the oil filter w/ 1/2" lines, runs it through the cooler, then back. Now even in traffic and sitting in 95+ heat in south Texas my oil temps rairly get above 210. While driving both oil and water level off at 180. I run synthetic and get real nerous if I got over 3000 miles w/o changing...

Thanks turboproject that's along the lines I was thinking of. I live in Southern Louisanna and man does it ever get hot here.

yea the oil temps get UP THERE if you don't have a cooler. I run the same one as Turboproject...
