question about your air filter...the way it's mounted by the rear tire, does it seem like it's going to get completely soaked in the rain? I know STS claims that water isn't an issue..(as long as you don't think your car is a submarine, driving through every puddle you come across).

also, just curious how you wired the oil suction pump. Did you wire it to an independant switch, or tied in with the ignition power? I'm really anxious to see some pictures of your install. Good luck on your numbers and getting the turbo replacement.
Nitrous is like a hot chick with an STD....you wanna hit it, but you\'re affraid of the consequences...

http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=244935

Water shouldn't be an issue. but for the F-body guys so far thatw ere really concerned, they cut a hole so that the filter could be mounted in the "cubby hole" we call a trunk. Not ideal, but they did it because they were paranoid.

Heh, Heh, yeah everyone has pondered this question. I know that I "should" use a K&N cylinder type of air filter, but I bought a cheap
cotton fiber air filter that was red and had chromed plating around the top and bottom. The color matched my car and I used an optional plastic shield to protect the bottom of the cone filter. Water does not get in the intake for the
turbo at all. It just rolls off the body panels to the ground. I got the air filter at Autozone. You drive through all the puddles you want! No
problem at all.
Yes, the oil pump is wired to a 12-volt continuous relay switch found in the fuse box. The pump starts as soon as the engine is in the "run" position". I have rigged an alarm system also for the pump using a pressure switch and a piezo alarm which can be found at Radio Shack. I also used a 6 volt, voltage reducer on the oil pump which will allow it to run longer with less stress on the internal. The sump system works well, but I still need a turbo that
won't leak oil from the bearings.

As soon as I get the turbo back I will take pictures with a digital camera. Will someone
help me get them online? I want everyone to see
it as well. Please tell me the best way to do it!

It is "dead" until I finish my project. I bet a couple of guys out there have some custom setups like mine and just don't want to post because of
negativity from the both of you. There is enough info out there for anybody to make their own conclusions. Why don't you guys find something
positive to add about them? I really hope that you guys let someone else form an opinion and quit the "hair splitting" contest once I post my final results. If it does not work well then let someone with one on their V6 Camaro or Firebird say so. I do believe that there were a couple of guys who were trying as well inside this post. Any luck? Please add a status if you have tried. My turbo is still in the shop.

So why is it that if I have a negative opinion on the kit, or dont think it will work well, I shouldnt post in the thread? If you really want people to make a choice on STS, dont you think they should know both sides of what they're getting into. I've noticed that STS owners everywhere get pissed if you mention the pitfalls of the kit. Why is that? It's like they will not under any circumstances hear the negative aspects of the kit, regardless of wether it's right or wrong.

Honestly man, Don't you take it to the extreme? Let someone else have a crack at it for once. There are some others who can donate some good input if you give em a chance. There is nothing to get upset about if the info is negative or positive. You have such a wealth of knowledge available that can be used in a constructive manner if you wanted to. I got nothing but respect for your opinion. You just have alot of
them

All I've done is respond throughout the post to what you're saying. Other people can reply whenever they want. Trust me, on this site, people that dont agree with what I have to say are plenty quick to post and let it be known. :D

Ever watch junk yard wars?
I think that is where they got the idea.
I can say that it's a big step up from the eletric leaf blower super charger, but with about the same amount of thought put into it.
I remember years ago on camaroz28.com some one posted asking about making a rear mount turbo, they got flamed.
Some one on the other thred said there $4000, is this true?
You can get a real turbo set up for V8 camaro for about that much and I there are super charger kits for cheaper.
I got my summit and Powerdyne kits are form $3000 to $3600(LS1) and Vortech are a lot more but you get options like after cooler(a lot more like $6000), Less then $3000 for LT1 and preLt1 and LS1 kit top out at 4700.

Supercharger is the way to go for the V8.

Turbo is too much headache on the LT1 and LS1 and the cost is high.

Tunning takes a bit more time also for turbocharged vehicles because the powercurve is not linear.

oh really? Indeed, they are more complex to build, harder to tune, and more expensive, but there is no debate as to which provides the better performance. So if you're after the best performance, turbo is the way to go. The two quickest 4th gens I know of, are both turbo cars. One is a turbo LS1 car (Harlan's car) which ran 8.2 or so, and a turbo LT1, which ran 8.35 (at which time it had 900rwhp, it now has over 1200).... both of these cars will be in the 7s next season for sure. I'm hoping in the next year to turbo my LT1.
