Has anyone ever heard of the PWR Air-liquid intercooler. it looks a lot different than normal intercoolers but also easier to mount in our limited space. if they are only medium grade could you run through more than one in say a y configuration and come back together. it just looks really easy to mount.

its only 360 dollars for a 4" diameter 6"long one.
that seems cheap for an air to water.2001 Arctic White Firebird With Black Drop Top

3:42 Gears
Zexel LSD
BMR upper A-Arms
Trans Am exhaust with 3\" I-pipe and cutout
Modified intake
Mecham Hood
Trans Go shift kit
Making rear control arms and panhard

i knew i needed the pump and lines but was unaware of needing a second radiator. why would i need that as well? while im asking, how much better does the air to water cool the air than an air to air ic.2001 Arctic White Firebird With Black Drop Top

3:42 Gears
Zexel LSD
BMR upper A-Arms
Trans Am exhaust with 3\" I-pipe and cutout
Modified intake
Mecham Hood
Trans Go shift kit
Making rear control arms and panhard

Air-water is used where there is NO or virtually no space for fresh, cool air to be hitting the I/C. THe I/C is mounted where convienent, and then a fresh supply of radiated (or, for some folks, through a cooler with ice) water is used to cool the intake charge.
In the case of the f-body, there is a fair amount of space in all of the 4th gens for mounting an air-air intercooler, it just must be chosen with the proper dimensions, etc.

dont take everything that he has to say as if it is written in stone. most of the stuff he works with is for road racing, he is not a fan of air to water IC's or water/alchol injection, but if you read other books by other authors they praise water/alchol injection..-Aaron, AKA ATL2001
93 3.4L
www.ilfba.com

True, it depends on what you are into. A icebox will give you cold water for a 15 second run, a good-flow water setup will give you warm water for your laps ...
But, we can fit air-air on our cars, so why not?
Unless you're really going for the ice effect, then you could do a serious icebox setup.

ok so from what i understand the water cooling is more for track use and air to air is more road friendly. is that the case? i originally thought that there were other ways to cool the water than just ice or a radiator. if there is no other way then i guess ill go air to air. i have a ram air hood so if i remove my airbox assembly would it be prudent to place the intercooler there (for air to air) and use a cone filter donw low close to the road? oh year and what would be a good size intercooler to use with a v1-s trim vortech running at about 10psi, i was thinking around 24x12x3 for air to air.2001 Arctic White Firebird With Black Drop Top

3:42 Gears
Zexel LSD
BMR upper A-Arms
Trans Am exhaust with 3\" I-pipe and cutout
Modified intake
Mecham Hood
Trans Go shift kit
Making rear control arms and panhard
