i think tiago had it up to 18 (on his 3.4) on race gas and stock internals so i would think 20 should be possible with a built up engine (maybe a little better than GTP internals) at around a 8.5 compression and retarded timing. but thats just a guess. ive never heard anyone of on this board running that much though, so i would be careful.

The idea of a turboed car being unstreetable is laughable. If you don't go WOT you won't notice the turbo. If you lower the compression however you will go slower than stock. Even if you have a 1400hp supra, put a block under the gas pedal and you wouldn't even know it had 200hp.
Also do not accept hp number estimates from anyone unless you specify a turbo. Stock eclipse turbos vs a T88 both at the same psi lvl are going to have COMPLETELY different dynos.

I did actually specify a turbo, its the one that tiago is about to release, t3 or t4 I believe. I just got my job offer for $46k a year so Im gonna give this some serious thought. Its either build a bad a$$ turbocharged engine or build up an LS1 and drop it in.
I was searching around Intenses' website and I noticed their stage 3 heads made for a turbocharged car, are these better than supersix heads? Has anyone done any business with intense? Are they reputable?
I would really like alot of input on this stuff, this post isnt a what if post, its the real deal, Im just trying to really plan out how I should approach this! Thanks all, for the input you have given me so far.

You havent seen the posts about the Intense GTP?
Yes they are reputable and are very nice. as for them being better or worse than supersix... I dont know if there is much of a difference in quality between the two. deffinately look at past posts to see what people have said about each and make your decision after you have heard oppinions on both, but i dont think either brand is better than the other.2001 Arctic White Firebird With Black Drop Top

3:42 Gears
Zexel LSD
BMR upper A-Arms
Trans Am exhaust with 3\" I-pipe and cutout
Modified intake
Mecham Hood
Trans Go shift kit
Making rear control arms and panhard

Are you saying that if you do normal driving you will never make boost? The only time you make boost is at WOT? That kinda sucks to me, maybe Im just not understanding it!00 Pewter Y87 Camaro-SS Hood/Chrome rims, Black Halos, Clear corners, Pacesetters, V8 K&N FIPK, 3\" B&B TriFlow, HPP3, MSD Coils, Taylor wires, Transgo stage II, Edge 3000 Stall, 180* thermo, SLP Bowtie Grill
Carro

Unfortunately you aren't understanding the whole ideology...
I will say before you build your car do some good 'ol research it will only help you at the end...
I don't remember tiagos turbo specs...but I am sure it is bigger than a t3/t4 GN spec'd which is good to 17psi on a "Relatively" stock motor (bolt-ons). So I am sure tiagos turbo can generate what you are looking for... Yes you can have 500hp on a 3800/3400 but you will be driving a different motor than what you have and I mean different motor...to attain 500hp you will definately need to do certain things depending on what you want...there are those who choose to spin the motor more (obviously this wouldn't be a stock motor)+ those who will run more boost...this are the folks that prefer the brute method..then there are those who prefer the efficient method...ultimately it is cash flow!! ANd the knowledge of where and when you wnat the power to start in the band... to reduce CR means this motor will dwell in SLOW POKE LAND till you hit WOT...of course I am speaking generally...
if you asked my for opinion I will tell you...to stay streetable with 500hp isn't a feat...it is plausible...but I WILL never lower compression to 8.0:1, 8.5 is low enough...the more you reduce CR...the more you create a peaky curve, the more it becomes harder to enjoy STREET drivability (remember you are only in boost about 1% each time you even drive...well except if you are really heavy footed ) ...and pls save me the 8.5 or 8.0 is the best for boost...yeah in other to expand the tunning window...and use cheap gas of course...lol!!...but in this day and age were Compression points as high as 9:1+ are been generated for high horse turbo cars...lowering compression means you loose efficiency, but overall you can run more boost...but running more boost isn't really the crux...but getting the most AIRFLOW possible...
If you are building a drag car then this is a completely different arena...if you are building a STREET car then build your engine with streetability in mind...
Get a turbo that can flow up to 700-800CFMs, port heads to reduce boost and increase efficiency...I don't believe in overevving, however to do that you will need a modified valvetrain, a mild cam (which is another can of worms, especially for turbos...ultimately you will need as much as 45-52lb/min of air flow to accomplish this goal...and we haven't added engine management!!
