  • Slight Knock random

The other morning I was leaving for work and at a light I heard some engine knock. After a very short time (5-8 min.) the knock went away and the car ran great and smooth. A week later, again in the morning leaving for work I heard the knock again at the light and shortly after everything ran normal. Both times the car was low on fuel. After filling up the tank and adding octane booster the car ran and is still running great. Anything I should be consired about, a few guys say a slight knock is normal now that the car has the supercharger.

You heard knocking when you were sitting idle at a light? If so I don't think that would have been detonation; is that what you were thinking it was? You're engine isn't under much load at all and you're not making any boost. Sounds like it might be something mechanical making the noise.

Yeah I was at idle, it sounded like a belt flapping around, but I check under the hood, and there was nothing loose. The car runs great and accelerates fine.

Really clueless on this one. What's your RPM when you do cold start? How loud is the knocking?

I guess you might as well leave the hood open, have someone start the car and you listen and look around. Put your hand on the head of the SC before starting.

Also loosen the belt again and see if the SC pulley has come loose. I've had incident where that came loose on me. Check idler pulley too and tensioner and see if they are loose.

You sure its not a misfire? My car would randomly start misfiring at startup and or sitting idling for a while.
