  • Fuel Pressure Gauge Problem

Anybody using a single wire fuel pressure gauge (like VDO, Cyberdyne, or Stewart-warner) on their forced induction systems. So far, I have tried two different companies and neither worked at all on my 99 Firebird. The signal never fluctuated above 20-30psi. The only one that has worked was the Autometer, but it costs over $200, and this will be my third unit if I have to purchase another.

I am trying to see if anybody else had the same problem that I did and that it is not just a problem with my installation... The single wire units have one wire that goes from the sender to the gauge instead of 3 to four wires like the more expensive Autometer one.

    Thanks

Thanks, I found out the problem was in the plumbing connector from Earl's. The unit has to be completely grounded to the fuel rail and the original connector was made of a non-magnetic material (probably aluminum) that does not carry a good ground.

          ditto.

also make sure and use the proper gauge wires on the positive side. very important. match them to the one supplied with the sender. ground wires can be bigger...but not smaller. positive wires should match (for most anythng) or else you start getting in to ohms and resistance issues.
