Re: need help fast...
ok well today was a very long day. After many cuts on my hands and fingers slipping off oily wrenches and all the fun stuff i finally figured it out. First i took off all the piping from the manifolds to where the turbo bolts up. I shortened that up so the piping is as far up to the frame underneath as it can go because of how it was mounted before was about 3/4" away from the frame so i fixed that all up. Next was on to the oil problem with the turbo. I clocked it first, and was still getting a whole lot of oil out the exhaust. So then i changed some feed line fittings and still oil. I tried to level the oil drain/feed by my eye and still got oil. Finally i took the turbo off and me and my dad pulled it apart from end to end to see if any seals were blown. Everything looked good so we bolted her back up but this time my dad used a leveling tool that he got from being a mechanic to make sure the oil drain/feed were 0* (perfectly straight up and down) so we got that all set up and tightened her up, started the car and No oil. I revved her up (downpipe isnt on yet) to see if any oil would come out. No oil at all which i was really happy with not to mention the turbo was turning much earlier in the rpm range (around 2 grand) then it was before (around 3200 rpms)....i changed my vaccum lines to the TB line except for the FMU and Boost gauge, i left them T'd into the Fuel pressure regulator line. Tomarrow im gonna put the downpipe back on and the rest of the exhaust then take her for a drive. Hopefully everything works well....
Now i have 2 questions if anyone knows the answer. Exactly how does the Wastegate and BOV work from vaccum lines? i have a 40 MM external HKS wastegate and im still kinda confused on how it operates just from the vaccum line and how it knows when to open and let the gases bypass the turbo
