I'm curious to know what people are doing for fuel pump upgrades. I'm aware of devices which speed-up stock pumps. I also know about the DRM and the Walbro pumps.
What I'm interested to know about is if anyone with 99-02 V6 cars has simply installed the pump out of a 99-02 with an LS1 V8?
many people get the basic walbro 255 and then modify the pump bucket and other stuff. not exactly plug and play. (some people say it 'swapped right in' but they are leaving out the details)
It also rides high in the tank. people start regarding 1/4 tank as 'empty' and fill up accordingly. some also ditch the pump bucket all together and say they don't mind the fuel drying up while cornering.
the only real plug and play with proper fitment of pump bucket, etc., is the racetronix ls1 kit. you have a 99+ car so you want the plastic gas tank kit. if you get the wrong one it will not fit right and you will have to modify it. the kit also comes with pump harness upgrades like heavier gauge wires and inline fuse, etc. $250. go to racetronix.com for more info.
only about 1 person has actually used this pump on their v6 car and they say it was 100% plug and play.

oh yea,
if you start searching for pumps you will find many pumps that are actually 1982-1992 pumps mislabled as modern gen 4.5 pumps. those will all have to be modified as well. very goofy literature and sales sites out there concerning the fbody fuel pumps. double check the part numbers on internet if you don't get the racetronix kit. you will see what i mean.

Ok, I did installation. Bought Walbro255 for LS1. It was direct replacement , what details do you want? its Plug&Play. cut the plastic hose , have the old pump unit out , put the walbro in, connect robber hose (sulpplied with walbro ) back to the case, slice the old fuel pump connector , crimp the new one (sulpplied with the pump ) put all back together and you are done.
