      Re: ...Yet another m90 question

One of the biggest problems is which end the throttle body is on...

In the fwd cars, the belt drive is on one end of the intake/blower, and the tb is on the other end of the intake. Now put that in an fbody. The belt drive is in the front. The tb is...

...in the back. A flattened elbow of some type might let you come back around toward the front of the car, and then bolt the tb onto that. Might have to take a chunk out of the firewall and/or cowl for clearance though.

The powerdyne is not a bad setup on these cars.

        Re: ...Yet another m90 question

I saw a picture of some custom rod that used the M90 where the intake end was pointed forward with the TB mounted to it and the drive pulley was pointing at the firewall. To drive it, they had used a long shaft that ran from the front of the engine through some bearing blocks, to the back where a small belt connected the shaft pulley to the blower drive pulley.

I’ve been thinking about that ever since, and believe such a setup could be utilized on a 4th Gen F-body.

Is the holden blower set up kind of like this?

        Has anyone explored this configuration?

I remember seeing one of those too. Maybe on a truck setup. It's been a while since I saw it. Not sure where.

Sounds like it could be a possibility as long as there's room in the back for the pulley and whatever is used to maintain belt tension.

Cool pic. Never seen a Holden set up before.

Now, everyone has been saying that the Holden supercharger will work in our cars. Well, the holden unit that you show here is the same configuration as the M90 with the drive at one end and inlet at the other. I guess I was expecting some exotic configuration where the inlet and drive were both on the same end (if that's at all possible).

This Holden unit does look to be a fatter and shorter than the M90. Is that why it can work in our F-body?

                  Re: ...Yet another m90 question

I have still have yet to see a Holden m90 in real life but from what I understand the length of an US m90 with TB is the length of a Holden m90 with that elbow. Pictured below is the Gen V (left) and Gen III m90 (right). This will maybe give you an idea of how long the supercharger is.

Now if you tried to throw the US m90 on an Fbody, you might as well take out dash and say hello to your throttle body and ducting while your inside your car. Hell, if that could be done, Gen V time!!

The only difference between the US and Holden m90 is only the inlet and TB. Everything else is the same.

now you got it. Do you see the line where TB attached to the SC? thats where the firewall wouldbe.

                      A Sawzall never hurt anyone:)
At least with the Holden, the s/c is already starting to curve. Then it is followed by that connecting elbow to the throttle body. Modification may be needed, but that goes for almost any car doing something. Not all cars are the same.

Just think, who need a throttle cable! Just grab hold and twist, but watch out for those backfires!!

Turbo charging is starting to look to me like the better option.

The one on the right is so close to ours. I see that for the TB being modified. Again look at last month's Pontiac Hi Po and see how the TB has been modified.

Good luck on the project and hopefully you're not one those that disappear.

Oops, I meant taking a Sawzall to the actual car to make the blower fit, not the TB.

Turbo is probably the best option, but I think having a BOV is annoying for daily driving or for weekends. Also I dont have to much knowledge on turbo cars, Ill save turbo idea for another car. BOVs arent necessary, but it makes your turbo last little longer. You hear the whoosh whenever you shift but on a s/c car you dont hear the whine when shifting unless your boosting over 2 PSI.
