  • Cheap Turbo any good?

So I have succeded in making a friend jealous over the purchase of a whole bunch of new parts including a turbo.

He is now also considering going turbo, but for cheap..... which led him to this

I don't know what to tell him about the quality or dependability of this turbo, what do you guys think? and do you have any alternative, not extremely expsenive options?

    good for mockup purposes only.
Go with Master Power T61 or T62 or T70. reasonable pricing too.(made in Brazil not China)

Thats kinda what I thought, I think he may even decide to dish out a little more after a big poker night, so still taking suggestions, thanks.

Is the problem with a turbo like a question of reliability? Or will you suffer HP loss as well? Another thing is I think I might scale my turbo down to a Turbonetics 62, anyone running this turbo? or have any other suggestions?
I have ready for install abbott stg 3 heads, stattamma stg 3 cam, double timing chain, suspension, 65 lb injectors, etc etc

I cant believe it. You bought genuine HKS BOV (that’s probably 200+ easy) and you saved $100 on head unit and bought pos xs power with wrong turbine???

you mean T70? if you want to get turbonetics- T62-1 would be perfect

well i am looking into a ceramic bearing t70, otherwise, I porbably just will go for the 62-1, it will spool soooooo fast.

My friend actually went thru and bought it, I mean it LOOKS like a good turbo, but he has not installed it yet, and is not sure if he will in fact dont be suprised if you see it go up for sale soon in favor of him getting something else.

                              Re: Cheap Turbo any good?

i just installed one of these about a week ago on my camaro....spools up late but when it does, it deff. pulls hard and u can feel the boost hit and also it sounds like a train, the turbo is soooo loud. The reason why it spools up so late is because of the exhaust turbine mine has but my downpipe i had on didnt help it at all....its at the shop getting a new downpipe and full exhaust added on
