    Re: why is it slower?!?!

You need to richen it up, and back off the timing. I'd try to find a FI 3.8 tune on Horist's repository. I think you can get there from the hptuners forum.

When I ran my sts on my v8 swap the first time, it was great at 1/2 throttle, I was seeing 3 psi and it was showing 11.5:1 a/f ratio. But the first time I opened it all the way up, it blew pieces out of the top of 3 pistons, and broke ringlands in 2 more. That all happened in less than 3 seconds. I had too much timing advance in the mid-range of the airflow/rpm/timing table.

You can always start conservative and slowly bring the timing up and lean the a/f back out some more. Definitely read up on tuning before going wot with it. There's some tuning info on the hptuners site and on ls1tech.

On the other hand, the 3.8 is a sturdy engine too... I sprayed my 3.8 with a 150 dry shot for a while, then ran a Powerdyne on it at 12 psi, all with no tuning. (other than bigger injectors and a maft - later mafless running speed density). So you may be able to get away with some tuning errors, but I wouldn't count on it for long...

yah...i wanna richen the AFR up when im WOT....but i have one of the earlier versions of HP tuners so most of the stuff i find out about it all relates to the newer version which has more to edit it with

ok i have my HP tuners up right now and this is what im looking at under PE...

        PE Enrichment

        -v6 base vs ECt
        -add vs TPS
        -add vs RPM

and PE Enable %TPS vs RPM

those are the only catagories i have under Power enrich....im guessing i wanna turn up the add vs rpm???

yea, but never flash in another person's tune into your car.

easy way for you right now is to zero out the add vs rpm talbe, maybe even comand 10:1 to be safe then if it really rich(like 9:1) move up to 11.0 then 11.75 then 12.0..... ect till your about where you want to be (11.8:1 under boost..) FYI i make best times/power at 12.3:1 BUT you want to leave room for cold weather !!!

then if you have lean or spots use the add vs rpm talbe

its easy with maf...... may also want to scan the Wide band reading and HZ error % to correct you maf readings too

Maf tunes are easy as pie

now if you start maxing the maf then it gets hard

just keep in mind that Sometimes several tables will influence 1 table, like PE.

unless HP Tuners is to lazy and there are "hidden" talbe thats the only talbe's that should alter PE

                  Re: why is it slower?!?!

well come to find out i went to the shop today to pay off the motor going into my car. Turns out its a 99 motor which i have a 98 camaro. My HP tuners is for a 98. Now with the 99 motor the 99 pcm will go along with it right? i didnt really ask about the pcm cause it didnt ring a bell at the time. If this is so, HP tuners will be up forsale real soon....
